Something tells me if the 15 screws you lost were as a result of not replacing the steering knuckle you stripped, they'll tell you where to stick it. Which is fair enough, really.

Does anyone know of a different place to get aluminum pieces for the MT2 besides New Era? I don't want purple and they don't make the knuckles in silver, like the uprights and A-arms.

Also, I just broke the front mount on my exhaust somehow, who makes a good pipe for our motors? (I still have the stock .15)

Newbie Needing Shim Info please!

I need to find out how to get the proper differential shims and how to install them. Does anyone have a link or pic's or something to help me acquire the shims I need and how to properly install them.

Thanks Bunch

Here are the springs I ordered from Tower.

I like them very much, they seemed to help keep the truck's rear end planted better.

With the black springs it would bottom out then the rear end would want to jump over the front.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone tried the tuned pipe from HPI (A940) for our trucks? If not which ones seem to work the best, I'm looking for more bottom end.
I ripped mine off in a crash today. I broke the front mount the other day then I side swiped a curb today and busted off the stinger and then the entire pipe along with my entire right front hub and steering knuckle. So I guess there's no better time to upgrade.

Oh, and my experience with shimming, just out of interest:

Prior to firing up my MT2 for the first time, I decided to shim the diffs, hopefully to avoid lunching them. So, I took the front diff out, cleaned all the grease off it, and from the inside of the housing, pulled it apart, put the shim in, and reassembled, using some Holmwreckers Diff Lube I got from Badhorsie along with their diff-locking grease.

Put it all back together and gave the input shaft a spin, and what the heck? The shim had moved the gears too close together! As I rotated the shaft, I could feel every tooth engage, and hear it as well. So I removed the shim again and put it back together and installed it on the car.

I assume then, that my car is not affected by the alleged casting problem with the diff gears, so I didn't bother pulling my rear diff apart. Hopefully my assumption is correct!

One thing I DID do, also prior to running the car in, however, was to disassemble my slipper assembly to check for the incorrectly-installed part which would cause the slipper to be locked, and mine was installed fine. The friction material had stuck to the metal disc, though, so I prized that apart. Perhaps this is one thing many didn't do before running their trucks, and this has contributed to the very high number of diffs being lunched?

Just a thought, but other than my impact-related breakages, so far so good!

When I pulled apart my slipper housing I also noticed that the metal disk was fused to the slipper. I also pried them apart and the barrel washer was not installed correctly on my MT2. I just bought mine over the 4th of July and I think it had been sitting on my LHS's shelf for quite some time. Now the slipper works flawlessly. I also noticed that the gear mesh in the diff's are too tight with a shim in place, so I took the shim's back out. Any way we will see how long it takes my bashing around. The way I drive probably not long!

Don't get this pipe. I have it, don't like it go with an Associated.

Many people write that they get more power with the Associated. With the HPI pipe I noticed little difference, plus the exaust pipe began to bend imediately after a couple of runs.

There are allot better pipes out there.

I think you rear diff spur gear is stipping.

Gets new gears and add the shims that veryone has been talking about on all the MT2 sites.
