Here's two that someone posted a while back and I bookmarked them, haven't used them myself but looked pretty cool...

Shock Balloons- http://www.jagrc.com/water/shock.html
Sping Diff Mod- http://www.jagrc.com/springdiff/springdiff.html

i though about it but it seemed to me like it would wear out your diff cups faster, just put something very thick in the spider gearsso its hard for them to turn

I didn't try the spring thing but I did use the diff locking grease that I got from my LHS. That worked very well and I liked it but on my sportmaxx it blew out the screws. I've found that there is an aluminum diff setup that someone makes and after I get that I will put the diff locking grease back in.

Better yet, take a 2 inch piece of fuel tubing and a 5 inch (or longer) zip tie. Thread the zip tie through the fuel tubing until the head of the zip tie hits the fuel tubing. Take the exposed zip tie and thread it through the hole in the fuel cap. Double back and thread it back up throught the fuel tube so both the head and the tail of the zip tie are sticking out the top. Zip the zip tie as far as you can, then cut off the excess. BAM, a thick and durable fuel lid handle that will stay upright.
