I heard like Wee's Wonder was so fast that the firewall gave way ... Bk Rimau ... sounds mighty good for all. I am sure that my friends and myself will be there. Of course rules will be required, keeps things a little more sane.

Hi all Malaysian Flyer,
I am a fellow Malaysian. I live the States (New Jersey). Been here for the past 20yrs. I am actually shocked that this RC hobby is active in Malaysia. What a pleasant surprise!!!!. I too am an RC flyer and belong to a local club in New Jersey. I just started about 9 month ago and never knew I would be this addicted to his hobby. I fly the Hobbico Avistar Trainer, AT-6 Texan from Hangar-9, and a bunch of electrics as well. Just love it.

I will be actually visiting Malaysia in the next couple of weeks (late March). I was hoping to find some local hobbyy store and maybe buy some parts like brushless motors etc. From the first look of it sounds like it is more expensive than in the States. Is that true??

Also if possible I would like to hook up with some of you folks up there during my visit. Please let me know if that is possible. My email is: kris@frontlinetech.com

Looking forward to your replies.

Thank you
Kris

Kris ... good to have you here, please drop by more often. Yes, I found out that RC planes are very much alive in KL. I used to fly like 20 years ago and I just got back in 2 months back. From what I know there are 3-4 active flying sites in KL. People fly at Kota Damansara (where most of us do), Kapar (in Klang area), Kota Kemuning (new township near or after Shah Alam area I think) and also at Batu Caves. Seems that there is a site in Puchong that is good too ... I am going to check that place out.

Brushless? Get it in the US. A simple 540 brushless by NOVAK for cars will set you back RM1,000.00. I hear its a lot cheaper overseas. I am sure we would all be glad to hook up when you are back ... PM anyone of us here!

Best price for brushless motors with controller, if you want either Aveox or Mega, is at castle creations, as the sell it as a package. I got my Mega 16/15/3 with Phx 35 controller for RM 680-00 including shipping. electrics are expensive here, much cheaper in the states, I even order my batteries from the states.

Ksubram, feel free to contact us and meet up when your here.

Selamat Datang/Welcome Kris to Malayisan Hangar!

RC is very alive in Malaysia but the rc scene in Malaysia does not progress much in terms of skills in international competition. Just my observation, but the Thai's are waaaay ahead in these field. As for myself I'm from East Malaysia as in Sarawak. The only thing that is cheap in Malaysia is the FOOD ( pssstt!........or maybe the CD's). If you were to shop for rc products in these region go to Singapore. They have a lot of stuff with good prices.

Have a safe journey back.
Hisham

Hi Hisham,
That was a quick reply. Aren't you supposed to be sleeping right now. Tks anyway. I forgot that you are in Sawarak. Oh well, I may plan another trip this summer with my family and maybe we can hop over to Sarawak (I have never been there -- this will be an excuse for us) and do some flying and eat lots of fish sambal (my favorite dish by the way).

Good to hear from you. Will keep in touch.

Kris you are most welcome. Do you know Sarawak have the largest lime stone cave in the world. I've never been there but were told several Jumbo jets could be placed in it. It is situated in the interior but there are shelleys(sp?) and flights into the place. Maybe you remember it. It is called Mulu.

Benson ... I think the PM is not working, you can email me at wbct@hotmail.com. what is your email?

Wanna go flying in Klang this Sunday morning? Can go for Bah Kut Teh and then to the flying site. Its at Taman Sri Andalas, there is a RC car track there where we used to race and beside it is a nice big grass field. Surrounding area is housing of only 2 stories and I think its pretty safe to fly 40 sized planes there, approach is great and as long as we are not running any big heavy fast planes it should be safe enough ... wanna come along?

Also might want to check out some site at Puchong, I was informed that a few people fly there on Sundays. They say it is like Kota Damansara. The site is at Bt Bandar Puchong near Tractors Malaysia some area just before the toll to Kajang.

Malaysia Flyer ... what about you? You can bring your Zagi, Flying Wing, Sukhoi 120 ...

You have been abusing your Zagi too much! Hahaha ... but its true that its more fun to do compat. I retired mine, been abusing it a lot by testing new things out, the bosy has too many battle wounds. Been thinking of getting another ...

Think I better concentrate on my planes ... just got another Scanner for trashing about and also trying to get my Rambler up. When will your Sukhoi be flying? Also how is Bk Rimau coming along? I know that my friends would love a new site even if we have to pay.

My plan is to try and get the site for free, so the only thing we have to pay for is to buy public liability insurance for ourselves. Its still in the plans, have talked to them, I think we should have it online within a month or so.

In the event that we have to pay, then I will try to minimise the cost involved for all.

Well ... if you have to pay then you have to pay. I think sometimes we need to pay to learn to appreciate what we have and that will make us a little more responsible (that is what I hope it will do). If the place is nice why not ... make sure there is the club houese, cappucino maker, toasted sandwiches, milk shakes ...

Well the developer may allow us to use the coffee machine at his sales office, as well as the toilet facilities.

On saturday we tried out night flying at Sg. Buloh, using glow stickes taped to the zagis, and my T3D Cap. I tried cutting the glow sticks and spraying the liquid over the foam, unfortunately it attacked the foam. So on Sunday, (the Cap was still flyable) I launched it as a target for the zagi's to hit, first round none of them got it, second round the cap took two hits that cut it in half. Man, it was fun. Am planning to build more targets for this type of combat, most likely a depron Pizza box flyer. Should be fun this weekend.

You mean Sun evening. I know I was there!!! I have retired the ZAGI for a while, gonna concentrate on my Rambler and perhaps the BH SU 31. Hahahaaaa ... sorry but I know you know me now. I missed the part when you got taken out ... I heard it was GOOOOOOOOD.

The flying field will be a great idea for sure. Hope there will be shade. I mean Kota D'sara is getting out of hand, Sunday's heli guys were rather stupid. I mean kids were like 30' away ... that is very irresponsible. I got nothing against the heli guys that is why I landed when Yap's son took off, I rather give him his space ...
