What is the mix ratio for model diesel fuel? Now of my local hobby shops carry it and I just am to lazy to order on the internet. This will be running in a converted Cox .049.

Take care,
Tim

Here are formula of dieselfuel. But your cox engine need higher ether around 40-50% balanced with kerosene + 25% oil. Can add 2-2.5% Isopropyl Nitrate.

Ether Kerosene Castor oil Isopropyl Nitrate
35% 35.00% 28% 2.00%
30% 43.75% 24% 2.25%
30% 47.50% 20% 2.50%

Tim, you must be lost... 1/2A forum is over there!

AJC

my 1/2A mix:

50% ether
20% kerosene
30% castor oil

add 2% MEKP (polyester resin hardener) for an ignition improver, does the same thing as IPN but no problem to get it...

(Before I get the hounds of safety on my butt, remember use at your own risk, I take the risk as I cannot buy commercially made fuel here in Northn Canada....)

Jens,
MEKP = Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide. Its not a brand name, but the chemical name for the oxidiser. As long as its in liquid form, and not a cream, you can use it.

Its worldwide use as a hardener for "fibreglass" resin (polyester and vinylesters) and also here in Canada it is sold with allmost all autobody putty and fillers, etc as a hardener as they are mostly polyester based products- makes it easy to get and cheap.

Just remember, untill it is mixed into the fuel and diluted, handle with care, ie not to be gotten on the skin, or eyes especially.

AJC
