Looking into building a Ziroli Stuka and was wondering how many and of what types of servos and rx will be required.

I am not interested in building the dive brakes or sirens, just a basic Stuka with flaps.

Thanks for your time

I would say that you probably could use any good quality 7 channel radio. Preferably a computer type. Since you don't need retracts you could get by with a 6 channel radio. Servos should be a minimum of 77 inoz on the flying surfaces. 1 per elevator half, 1 per aileron, 1 for rudder, 1 per side for flaps. Servos for throttle and ignition kill are whatever standard ones that came with your radio. 2 NiMH or NiCD 1200 mah 4 cell packs for the receiver. 1 NiMH or NiCd 1200 mah 4 cell pack for the ignition. Not needed if you are using a standard magnito engine such as a Zenoah G-62.

And a whole bucket full of common sense.

I have seen a lot of Ziroli Stukas fly and I have yet to see a bad flying one. Probably make a good giant scale trainer.

Fly safe,

Ken

Do they need to be giant scale servos? or standard size high torqe?

How do you hook up two battery packs to 1 rx? Could you just use a 2700mahh NiMH pack?

Thanks for the reply

Standard servos are fine as long as they have 77 inoz or more torque. All manufacturers publish torque ratings for their servos, usually at 4.8 volts and 6 volts. The term "Giant Scale Servo" usually refers to a physically large servo such as Hitec HS-700. I prefer to look at servos based on torque rating and speed rather than terms such as "giant scale" or "hi torque". There are a lot of servos which are no larger than "standard" servos which produce a great deal more torque and are very fast. These good qualities usually bring a proportional price.

2700 mah NiMH batteries will be fine. Connect one through a switch to the battery port of the receiver. Connect the other one through a switch to an unused servo port on the receiver. If all servo ports are used then use a "Y" harness to connect the battery and a servo to a servo port.

I have a Zenoah G-62 engine with spring starter on mine. 1/4 Scale Servos on Elevator and Throttle, High torque standard size servos on ailerons and flaps. Standard servos on dive brakes, bomb drop and throttle. I am using also two 2000 mah NiCad Batteries. Radio is JR 8103 PCM.
It is an awsome flying plane, and lands like a trainer. You will not be dissapointed. I would seriously consider putting dive brakes and a siren on it. Soooooo coooool
You can look at some pictures of her on my website :
