Hi Adam,

I think I'm going to have to do something since the post is getting so long. I originally thought it was a good idea to keep the information in the post so everyone would have a history of all comments and understand the changes, but then again, I thought it would be finished after a couple of posts

Also, typically when your notified of a change to a post via email, and you click on it and takes you to the last post, if I edit the first post, people will have to be notified to go to the first post.

I'll need to discuss this with the forum moderator to see what can be done.

This has becoome a much larger project than I first thought it would be!

I'm like keeping it up and the cooperation I'm getting from all the modelers - I hoping everyone is finding it useful.

Got your email, thanks for your changes.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne

Have a few more to add...

Lawn Dart - An airplane fuselage that lost its wings mid flight.
Stab - Horizontal Stabilizer, the flat, wide, nonmoving part on the tail.
Fin - Vertical Stabilizer, the tall, thin, nomoving part of the tail.
Hotliner - A high speed electric glider
Dynamic Soaring - Using the up and downdrafts of a slope to build speed with a glider.
One point landing - Landings usually performed by lawn darts.

Hi Phayd,

Thanks for the input, consider them added for the next release, probably next week.

I'm always amazed at how large this list has grown!

Hi Bldrums,

Bashing normally means that people are saying negative things about something. "Kit Bashing" would mean that people are saying negative things about kits.

Normally, when speaking, bash would mean to strike or hit.

I'll try and make up a definition and add it to the list.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help.

I don't know the origin of the term, but it means to heavily modify the model when you're building a kit. From the way I've heard it, it seems to be a very old term, used mostly by guys who have been building kits for a long time. There's something humorous in the term, but not knowing the origin, I don't get the joke. It may simply be the similar sound between "kit building" and "kit bashing".

Kit Bashing is not a derogatory term, much like hacking is not really a derogatory computer term. Like Mike said, it is to modify a kit in ways not intended by the manufacturer. For instance, putting two engines on a LT40 is a kit bash. Clipping wings is an easy kit bash. Making a Senior a biplane is another kit bash. Essentially you perform a kit bash whenever you stray from the manual.

Just my two cents: V1 means, the maximum speed in the takeoff at which time the pilot must make the decision to , in a nut shell, take off or abort the takeoff.
V2 means, takeoff safety speed, thus when the airplane is rotated for takeoff
These terms are normally used with high performance aircraft (Jets), V1 was derived from the field length to ensure that if there is a problem during the takeoff roll, the airplane would not end up going off the end of the runway. All Jet manufacturers include a table in the flight manual with runway length minimums based on aircraft weight and air conditions ie., density altitude, temp, pressure altitude and so on. If the aircraft is limited to say a 5000 foot runway, the decision speed or V1 would be roughly half of that. During the takeoff roll when the airplane safely passes V1, with no problems, then V2 is called and the airplane is rotated and off we go..... Hope this helps

Hi Chuck,

We have:
ROFLMAO - Rolling On Floor Laughing My “Aft” Off (or substitute “aft” with your locally used word)
in the current list, hopefully this will be OK. If not let me know.

Thanks for the input. The new list will be out this week.

When some one says scratch built. Does that mean that it did not come from a kit or does it just mean that you built it yourself?

Thanks
