I wouldn't recommend using balloons at all, I did and it ran fine is the ice, but once i hit water, the stearing was gone, i had then wraped really good. I found that using no protection was better than the balloons

water balloons tend to rip easily so I used plasti dip. It was really easy all you have to do is dip and then let them dry. Works really well.

you can also use RTV to seal the servo joints. It's just kind of time consuming.

2nd the plastidip.
Works great!

Dip them (in a vented garage or OUTSIDE. stuff stinks!)
and let them dry. Couldn't get much easier. And the can is like 5 bucks at Lowes / Home depot.

I've used the same balloons all winter, probably ran my truck 20-30x out in the snow and ice so far, and all of the electronics are perfectly fine.

you dip the whole servo then about an inch and a half of the wire.
