STLPilot, They look good, I've got one on order, I can't wait! I am going to power it with the MVVS 2.15 gasser and the the tuned pipe exhaust from Morris.(I hope I havn't made a mistake, but I like gas.....cleaner, cheaper) I read a post somewhere that said this motor pulled it out of a hover very well. I will find out soon enough.I wonder how
the arf will compare to the kit as far as the weight? The os 1.60 and the moki 2.10 seem to be used the most on this plane. I will post a report to let everyone know how the MVVS works out.

Happy flying, Dave

Some more reading and I find that capthis sold the plane(OMP Edge/MVVS 2.15) to stlpilot. It was a little nose heavy, .......What was the auw?How many servos were used in the tail? What servos did you use?Have there been any more problems with the ignition system? How do you like the combo? Enough power?Or should I do a search and read some more?

Thanks Dave

Combo is real good MVVS is really strong ... spinning 22x6 @ 7500. Have not had a single problem with the ignition, my of just been that first one that was bad. I did shift the weight back and now it's plenty fun.

You certainly don't need more power. Honestly, if I totalled this plane and motor, I'd stick that motor right back on it.

Thats what I wanted to hear! Thanks. I'm going to use hitec digitals, I have them in my 33% Extra and so far no problems with those servos. I got 4 5625s and one 5645 for the rudder, maybe a futaba s148 on the throttle.
Wow that tuned pipe looks like a small baseball bat, how did you mount it? Can you Post some pics please?

STLPilot,
Well, I just bent my wing tube on this dang thing on my first flight today. This is a kit I built, with an mvvs2.15gas engine and pipe on it. I was working on what was going to be my signature maneuver with this plane, a power off dive to a parachute right over the runway, to a harrier landing. Well, I did the parachute up high, and woops, it's got dihedral in the wing. Do you know of anybody who sells a carbon tube this size (7/8" outside diamete) or am I screwed?
Had I known this tube was this weak, I would hae built the dang thing with a 1.25" tube.

Dave763,
Thanks very much, looks like PrecisionAeroComposites have what I need, a 7/8" x 30" carbon tube for $35.00. And to anybody building this plane, or if the ARF comes with a 7/8" wing tube, either sleeve the tube, use a larger tube, or use a carbon tube. I was pulling a parachute from a 100' decent at idle, I think it should have held up to that, what when I start doing full power horizontal to a wall ha ha.

Thats the first I have heard that. I have over 250 very abusive flights on mine and never has the spar even came close to failing. I'll ask Mike to see if he has heard anybody elses spar failing.

I ordered the carbon wing tube from PrecisionAeroComposites @$35.00. Let's see if the wings go next ha ha.

So Dion, did you find out if other owners have been able to bend the wing tube? If not, I think I must have won something, at the very least he he. Or maybe we can come up with a nickname for me, TubeBender perhaps. I sure hope the ribs and the wings stay together after I get the carbon tube he he.

I haven't talked to Mike yet tonite. However, I have the same setup as you. Do you have the 3' tuned pipe for the MVVS 2.15? I have flown mine straight down half throttle from 200' into a parachute many times. It could have just been bad batch or bad pipe. It's more important that you did not rip the wing off and total your plane.

The only time I was able to bend a tube is during crash. Usually these tubes are over-designed, if you check out the formula explained in Troy Built Models.

http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/WingTubes.html

Crashes can be expected to see 9G of load, which will bend tubes. Harrier landing (assuming no wing-to-ground impact), if done roughly w/ a stiff landing gear, 3G at most, and should not bend tubes.

I think you most likely had a defective tube.

That is an anomally as we have 100s of these models out now with no problems. I know for sure I beat my GS in the air with parachutes, walls, and blenders and have never bent the tube. I even midaired another plane (my son's!) one day which killed the engine and caused a direct nose in crash. Both wings broke loose from the inside structure breaking the tube loose from the ribs. The tube however was not bent at all and is back flying again.

Ordered one of these today! Hoping the first run on the ARF's are still available! Does anyone know? Iwas considering the mvvs 2.15 combo as well. Also had a BME 44 or 50 in mind ? Also read a little about the roto 35. Any comments or opinions are appreciated! Looking forward to this one! It will be interesting because if this thing flys like their little brothers in a giant version, this is going to be awesome! especially only spending about $2 or so a day to fly !!!

Yes the first run ARF's are still available. We will update the website when we sell out.

I've got the MVVS 2.15 ... tons of power. However that ZDZ 40 is supposed to be the lighter then the MVVS 2.15 and the price is pretty close. However I like the looks of the rail mounted MVVS better then bulk mount. It looks more like a blown up Fun Fly that way.

Not sure about the new RCS Roto 35 ... looks nice ... that's for sure.
