I'll also cast a BIG thumbs up for Dark Blue World, a must see for Spitfire addicts.

Add to the list The Dawn Patrol, Hell's Angels from WW1
A wing and a prayer(TBF's at Midway) Air Force from WW2 (Early B17, D model?)

Poncho Barnes. Breaking the sound Barrier. Fighter Squadron. Test Pilot. Baa Baa Blacksheep. One of my favorites was Air America.

Would that be the Florence "Poncho" Barnes of the Happy Bottom Ridding Club? Didn't know there was a movie out about her. If so, I'll have to check it out.

Yes. Valerie Bertinelli played the lead. A bit in the lead where she raced the Mystery Ship, I think. A while since I saw it. Like to see it again on the big dish so I can add to the collection.

Speaking of racing, I guess we should include "The Rocketeer" for the GeeBee Z Replica.......

Ditto ditto! for Dark Blue World and Piece of Cake if you're into spits.

Both have exceptional footage.

Both are easily obtained thru amazon.com or ebay.

If you're into firebombers, don't forget Always, starring Richard Dreyfus. Great Invader and Catalina footage.

A real scale RC airplane was commissioned from the local club in the area of the shoot (Northern Manitoba I believe).

How about The High and the Mighty? The granddaddy of the Airport movies. Actually a great movie that is not available. The John Wayne family controls it.

The story in "High and the Mighty" is from a chapter in Gann's "Fate is the Hunter", one of the great aviation autobiographies. From DC-2's to B-24's to the Superconstellation, Gann traces the history of US commercial airline flying with wit and candor, and one chapter relating a flight through an ice storm in a DC-3 is enough to make you take the bus from here on in!

"We Were Soldiers" Good flight shots of A1 Skyraiders, A4's and Thuds. I saw some real
time stuff in Iraq in 1991, i.e. two A-10's pounding some Iraqi Sand men, Apaches playing Death Tag with some Iraqi ground vehicles, an F-16 taking a DUMP on something and a great Arc Light show from a BUFF Drop. Oh yes, the night the SCUD was hit by the Patriot over Dahran I was on a roof top in Kohbar Towers. My heart went out to those who were unfortunate to be hit by the debris of the SCUD.

"Wing and a Prayer". Excellent melding of movie set stuff with real film from actual U. S. carrier action in the South Pacific. Great footage and close up's of F6F, TBM, SB2C action. It also uses a Curtiss CW-22 as a Japanese fighter. Don Ameche plays the CAG with a very tough job to do. It's out on video.

How about "The Right Stuff" and "Spirit of Saint Louis" with Jimmy Stewart. Just looking at the liust of all these movies brings back memories.... some I have seen only once... and some I can't count the times... to my wife's regret... I never tire of these "Airplane" movies!
