Just another reminder, there will be another SMALL STEPS event in Texarkana Texas July 20 & 21. Should be lots of fun.

Hay DICKEYBIRD, Your little .020 ugly stick is a real good flier!! I was very impressed at SMALL by how well it flew. How are the Zot plans comming?

Hi 2fast,

Thanks, believe it or not, that was a TD .010 on my little "KwikStik 010" It would be a real horse with an .020! I've attached a picture of it. 121 sq. in, Clark Y airfoil, a little less than 5 oz. That's where the performance comes from, light wing loading, screaming .010 power (23 - 25K) Lotsa fun!

The Zot!....sigh, I have the CNC cut ribs and shear webs done, the plans were about 80% done before I started designing the "Twin Lizzie 2" and got into an all-out marathon to get it completed before S.M.A.L.L. Now Frank F. wants me to do a const. article on it for FM mag! I'll get back on the Zot! as soon as family/work/life conditions permit & you'll be the first to know.

Cool!! I guess you know who I am since I'm asking about the Zot! That stick was a trip! I didn't think an .010 would move like that!! What type of radio equip are you useing to keep it sooo light?? Except for the Spruce Goose 2 years ago with 8 .010's running at the same time, I consider you to be THE MAN when it comes to little Cox engines!! What did you think of the new field? They almost didn't have enough time to pull it off this year. Looks like it will be a nice place when it's had some time behind it. Good talking to you again. See you next year

The KwikStik 010 actually could be even lighter with newer radio gear! I used 2 Cirrus CS-20's, a Futaba micro 4 ch AM rcvr with the case removed (.65 oz) and a 50 mah nicad battery when I built it several years ago. With a GWS R-4P rcvr. and GWS Pico servos, it would be about 4.3 oz! Wing loading would go from 5.95 oz/sq ft to 5.1 oz/sq ft....even tighter loops and lower pull-outs!

Yup, the Spruce Goose was unreal. I keep telling my buddies about it but Dan Walton hasn't been to S.M.A.L.L. with it in a couple of years now. I always thought the starting of those 8 .010's would be like the guy that had the act on the Ed Sullivan show years ago where he would have all the spinning plates on top of the poles.....he would have to run back & forth trying to keep 'em all spinning at the same time! But actually, Dan just marched right through starting up all 8 of the little critters with hardly a problem. And I thought starting up my Twin Lizzie 2 was a hassle!

The new field is great, I hope they are able to hang on to it for a long time.....I'm looking forward to next year already.
