put a ys140 (with an apc14.12) in it

and yes, foam around the gas tank (or at least where it makes contact with the airframe)

I already got a Saito 100 to go on it...............after I read all this.

My next question is: the anti-vibe mount is not tight on my motor mount flanges, should I use washers or remove it all together and go direct mount?

Thanks a bunch

i didn't use the supplied anti-vibe mount.
i used a gator RC mount (see my pictures way way back in this thread for reference)

but i don't know if they're in business anymore.

you can use a straight mount - and that will add to the tail vibration.
my forst engine was a ys110 and it did shake the tail feathers... maybe you'll be OK with a sayno100....

but the supplied anti-vibe mount is a p.o.s. i.m.o.

you can always get a chip hyde soft mount if you're hardset on using an isolated engine mount.

I'm trying to keep the entire exhaust inside the cowl, by using the elbow. It came with a note saying to only use it with the flex pipe.
I mounted the elbow then manifold then muffler and zip tied the muffler to the fuselage. Do you think this will support it enough for the alun. elbow?
Thanks a bunch,
Tom

Hi again...............I hope some of you guys are still looking at this thread?!?

Has anyone had a problem with the supplied spinner nut going onto a Saito motor? Mine starts, but only goes a tread or two, seems crosstreaded a bit. Also, do you only use the spinner nut and the large nut, the jam nut and the spinner nut wouldn't fit?!?
Can anyone advise?
Thanks

Hello everyone,

I recently got the 60 size arf mustang and have a few questions. any tips, tricks, or any words of wisdom will be most appreciated. First of all this will be my third and largest plane and i guess i would call myself an intermediate rc pilot.

1. how would the os 55 ax do on this plane?
2. any building tips?

I put a Saito 125 in mine and yes the supplied spinner nut did not work with my engine. I went down to my LHS and picked a new one up.

Welcome bstronger,
I fly this plane with a YS 91 and 14x 10 prop and I have good speed and vertical with this set-up. I thing the 55 is better suited for a 40 size plane. A 60 or 75 2C size engine will fly this plane but a 91 or 100 4 C would be better. Two things that are a must with this plane, re-inforce the retract block area with epoxy and make sure all the covering is ironed down well on the wings. On my madian flite half the covering peeled back on one wing almost causing me to crash. I managed to get the plane down in one piece, the only damage was I ripped the retracts out. Since then I fixed the retracts and recovered the wings now everything is fine. The WM Mustang is a great plane and even better flyer. Good luck! Let us know what you decide!

Hi,
I use a hi temp gasket sealant you can buy from auto parts store. Clean the treads really good with acectone and apply some directly on the treads.

A friend just purchased this plane and installed a Saito 1.00 inverted. He is having a problem with the engine flooding because the tank is higher than the carb. Is the solution to install a pressure fuel system like Iron Bay or Cline? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Phillip

hummingbird,

do you have a noise ordinance at your field?

if not, then why not just straight pipe it and toss the muffler in the recycle bin.
it sounds more like a warbird without the muffler anyways and you'll pick up additional engine performance.
