As I read on the forum, many posts ask about free plans. These are some links I collected where you can find nice free plans (some are the same), most will require a CAD viewer.
If you know some other sites with free plans, please add!!!!

www.spadtothebone.com SPAD = Simple Plastic Airplane Design. Easy and inexpensive. Not always light... but very rugged... can be light if you know the tricks. ;)

BMatthews -> RE: Links to free plans (2/25/2004 6:34:12 PM)

GREAT IDEA! ! !

I've taken the liberty to add a bit to the title so that it better describes what this thread is about.

And I've also stickied it as this is one of the most common topics around here. So feel free to add good links here and report problems with them as they may arise.

starcad -> RE: Links to free plans (2/26/2004 2:45:06 PM)

It still amazes me that my designs are still on the net! I've checked the links above and all are safe to visit and download from as they have complied with copyright and left the title box intact and given credit to each of the designer of these designs if known. I've also added several updates to my designs ( StarCad ) on my web site Arizona Modeler Magazine in the Downloads Section. More updated and files are coming as time permits. fritzke -> RE: Links to free plans (2/28/2004 12:27:52 AM)

And My site:
http://my.pclink.com/~dfritzke/
Mostly PDF, mostly SMALL planes & not CAD.
(Except for the Littlest Stick which I "heads up" digitized
a few years back).

Lightfoot -> RE: Links to free plans (3/9/2004 5:20:16 PM)

There are plans and construction articles for several things, but no planes, on my web page.

BMatthews -> RE: Links to free plans (3/30/2004 4:26:20 AM)

Well. I learned in important lesson tonight. If you delete a post it also deletes all the posts that replied to THAT post. So it looks like I lost a few of the posts with plan links in my efforts to tidy up this thread. If you notice that a post with links to plans that you put here is missing please repost. Sorry.

The intent of my clean up was to tidy up the thread so folks can find links to plans quickly. The idea is that this thread should be a resource rather than an open discussion thread as per normal.

If you have a request for a specific plan or some other question please post it as a New Post. Your question will get more exposure that way and we won't clutter up this resource thread. If the question is about one of the plan sites or to report a broken link then feel free to post here since it obviously is related to the information here.

Also Lightfoot brought up a good point. If you find links to shop jigs or field boxes that are meant for model airplane use feel free to post those too.

Thought I'd pass this along just found some Cad aircraft plans...am guessing and will say there are several hundred. Other goodies like three views for free... along with AutoDesk VoLo full version viewer and a Raster to Vector converter all this is free in their Download section..

Some blue prints of many aircraft (these are for sale though..but did manage a couple of download jpegs of them..

As am new to Cad I don't know if they are suitable to use..but the electrics should have a good time there.

JonnyJohnston -> RE: Links to free plans (7/5/2004 11:52:46 AM)

I have a few drawings that are not available that I am aware of on the internet. David Rowe's UFO which is very similar to the V-173/XF5U only this is a homebuilt. I received the plans from one Derek Buckmaster in Australia. They are a bit crude because they are not finished. He has also sent me what is the beginning of a 28" span Transavia Airtruk PL12. This is the UFO. If anyone is interested let me know.

Another site with some plans to download.

marwen1 -> RE: Links to free plans (4/26/2005 1:09:43 PM)

David74

I am not quite sure what software you have but, you do NOT have to have CAD software to open those drawings you refer to. I personally use either ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR, FREEHAND, or else CORELDRAW.

If you have none of these, go to a site called www.versiontracker.com --- they cater to hundreds off applications for almost all of the operating systems going. If you are on a PC, your browser will open up at their PC area. If you are on a MAC, --- and so on.
It has developed over the years to being a very busy site but if you cannot find what you are looking for, CONTACT them with a simple email and ask them to direct you to a site that will help you to open CAD drawings

These are mostly FREEWARE & SHAREWARE

enjoy! I hope that will help those too that are stuck and not being able to open up thos CAD's.
