Hello all,

I was hoping to get a clear answer from all of you folks out there on what to run in my new Moki 1.35.
The book says to run 20% oil with only 5% nitro but can run 10% even 15% in cold weather...hard for me to find the 5% at my LHS.
The guy at my LHS says it will not hurt the engine at all to run 10% with 18% Caster blend, and one of the local flyer's at my club tells me to NOT run anything but 5% nitro with 20% blend witch is extremely hard to get.

What should a fella do?

Robin

Do you think a Moki 1.35 will yank a 10.2# CG Sukhoi straight up?

OK, although I don't have my literature in front of me here is what I remember. Moki says it's ok to run lesser amounts of oil but you need to be careful. If I had your set of circumstances I would use the 10% that is available and add a little castor. I can tell you exactly how much oil to make it 20% when I get back to my computer at home. Someone else will probably let you know before that. In my opinion and experience, the Moki and other larger engines like, run, perform and transition lots better with less oil. Again, you just have to be careful. I do NOT try to get every last blessed RPM out of my engines. In fact I fly and maneuver at about half to a little over half throttle most of the time. I use the power when needed in loops, climbs, hovers etc.

I've run the 1.35 on an Ultra Stick. It was around ten pounds. It pulled vertical pretty good. Although it wasn't overpowered in a hover, it was plenty of power for the plane.

BOB-NJ IS RIGHT. IF YOU HAVE 18% OIL IN THE FUEL NOW, YOU SHOULD ADD 3 OZ OF CASTOR TO IT. THIS SHOUD GIVE YOU AROUND 20% OIL. THE MOKI WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT. AGAIN BOB IS CORRECT ABOUT THE RPM'S THE MOKI WILL GIVE YOU IT'S POWER AT 75% THRO. THERE IS NO NEED TO RUN IT WID OPEN ALL THE TIME. I HAVE 6 MOKI'S AND USE ONLY 5% CASTOR/SYN WILDCAT FUEL IN THEM. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM.
