I've just stipped out my 4th NEW "D" gear on my GWS 350 gearbox. I've had to swap out the gear either because the gear has become worn or because I've bent the prop shaft. Anyway, I push the new gear onto the propshaft, reassemble into the gearbox and all seems fine. UNTIL 3-4 minutes into the flight.....then the prop stops spinning and there's a high pitched whirling sound. Upon examination, the gear has moved up toward the prop. The inside of the "D" gear seems stripped and will no longer seat firmly on the rough section of the propshaft.

This is getting frustrating. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I had that happen to, check and see if there is any small crackes on the gear box thats what was wrong with mine. also I use a drop of ca to hold the gear on if it goes bad it will still pull off.hope this helps some.
