I've got MIP cvd drives, and RD Logics output cvds. I wrecked a MIP output, that's why I replaced the outputs with RD Logics.

The "cheap CVD" thing is interesting, because I've been watching Ebay for a full F/R/C set. And there's a bunch from a seller that are going for BIN $74.99 for all 6. Considering MIPs are about $45 for 1 set thats a damn good deal but it doesn't say a brand name. They are silver, not sure if that really makes em any better, I know the MIP shinys are supposed to be best. May stick with the brand names, don't want to buy em twice.

I'm seriously thinking about the MAX21 or P2 (for my b-day hopefully ) just want to learn more first. I'll be watching the thread.

Actually, I've seen other $75 sets that WERE name brand XTMs, but I'd stay away from the ones that are up now. This seller has almost only ONE sale/feedback, which I avoid like the plague (though I'll hate people like me when I finally try to SELL something for the first time ). Add in that there's no brand name, and I'm more than leery.

Same goes for the set of RD Logics I see currently at $66. Very little feedback, much of it from one or two buyers, and all of it several months old.

Keep checking, though. You WILL see some 1000 + sale/perfect feedback vendors selling name brand sets at good prices at some point!!!!

yeah, I saw those RD Logics too and thought about it, but lately a couple of friends of mine and my boss at work have gotten ripped off on Ebay, not RC stuff but just in general. I've been lucky so far (over 190 feedback) and never really cautious but I'm a little more hesitant now.

IIRC, the eBay name of the seller was 'goodsgood'. Lysle has emailed him about the problem.

It remains to be seen if the seller will make good on this problem.

I've NEVER had an e-bay problem as a buyer, but I literally won't buy from anyone with less than a couple hundred sales under their belt & pretty perfect feedback!

For Maxx stuff, you can feel safe w/RC Boyz, Mr. Dusty's Attic, TeamBlueStar & probably several dozen other guys. Lotsa hobby shops/e-tailers sell on e-bay, and you can usually save a FEW bucks when compared to purchaces made directly from their own sites.

Sometimes, it's actually MORE, though!

GVFD29, you said that your set-up was all stock except for a K&N filter. I don't understand how you can break steel drive shafts, yet the plastic nylon spur gears and transmission gears were not affected?

Spur gears SHOULD be plastic! Metal ones are too heavy, and there really isn't a lot of stress put on this gear (unlike the small pinions, which HAVE to be metal!), as long is the mesh is set OK. Yes, you can buy steel spurs, but it's kinda silly....new plastic ones are maybe $5. Delrin is a better plastic than nylon, but steel spurs sap a fair amount of power, overall. Spurs die from stuff getting caught in them (debris, wires, rodents), impacts that mess up the drivetrain in general and from improper setuop. They do NOT seem to die due to "old age", however powerful your engine is!

And despite the Maxx's appetite for drive shafts & diffs, MOST .21 upgraders seem to do pretty darn well with the stock tranny, too!! A steel top shaft is a good idea, but only when something fails, and that really doesn't happen too often. And lotsa people at this stage in their Maxxness switch to forward-only, which itself brings nicely made gears to the tranny to help beef it up.

No surpise to me that the tranny & spurs are holding up!!

These particular shafts were very poor quality steel, and the drive cups literally cut the pins off.

What I bought from 'Goodsgood'

Sorry guys....I've been away from the computer. The motor is great, I just changed up to use 25% Trinity fuel. I'm running a tad bit on the hot side. approx 240-250. umm...oh yea...anybody who has the motor, the screw settings (Not provided in manual) High speed: 4 turns out, low speed 2 1/2 and ilde @ 3mm. This is the factory setting as per Werksracing...I found it ran way too hot, I ended up at 5 to 6 turns out on the high speed needle. It might just be because of the 25% fuel. WHEELIES from mostly any speed in first gear. I'm still having problems in 2nd gear....my assumption is that the RPM's are different then the TRX 2.5 and I will need to set (Tune) the timing of the second gear.

I put the plastic Driveshafts back on...no problem. I had a runaway though...still doing the crash investigation...some radio problem, all's ok. I just need a new aluminum bumper.
