Zwilling -> anyone ever done a "zwilling"? (4/11/2003 9:29:22 AM)

Hi everybody,

someone ever seen doing a me 109 modification to a zwilling?
I love this bird, and am thinking about conversion from Brian Taylor plans, but I am not a rocket scientist...
I haven't seen his plans yet, and don't know if it is possible.
Most other plan designers have too big models. (his me 109f has 61" span)
Any suggestions would be helpful, (I didn't do a twin before)
Thank you
If you don't know it: it looks like this... (in plastic)

I have seen two Top Flight Mustangs converted to a single P-82. A P-82 looks like the pic you sent only with Mustangs. It flew great with two Super tigre .90s. It was an easy convertion. He only had to build the center
of the tail and reinforce the wings were they joined. He also built a jig to mount in the wing saddle for transportation. Once the wing was removed the tail was the only link. It flew better than the kits it
was built from and was very fast. later daveo

Zwilling.
This looks like a maybe a great candidate for electric. Go for it either way! The Bf-109 Zwilling has long been one of my favorites too.

Good Luck!

A zwilling was a He111 x2 was'nt it? i have never heard of a zwilling based on any other german bird!!!!??????

the zwilling i know is 2 He 111's with 5 motors(1 outboard of each fuse and 3 in between)

i see the pic you have attached, but this is news to me and i considered myself quite the luftwaffe buff..........

First suggestion is to fly a twin built from a kit (or ARF) before trying the kit-bash. As long as bot engines are running... it'll behave about like a single engine plane. (just more power) But many twin designs have seroius problems if one engine dies. (when in doubt... kill the second engine)

Someone acutally makes a P-82 Twin Mustang kit now... Perhaps you may want to look into converting that to look like the Zwilling? I'd think it's more cosmetic work than structural. The basic design is there.. At least it might be a good "test bed" before attempting a scratch built. Just my .02
