Status: offline 		Hi; I am running a 20% castor syn. mix fuel and I want to boost the castor oil content to make the oil content 23%. Does anyone know how to figure how much castor to add to one gallon of fuel to bring up the oil content to 23% ? Thanks

Status: offline 		128 oz. in a gallon.... 12.8 oz. would 10 % 1.28 would be 1 %

1.28 x 3 = 3.84

My brain would say add alittle less than 4 oz. and you'll be there. But than again I don't rely on my math to save my life

Status: offline 		I'm doing the same thing. I got a MDS .78 for 60 bucks from the LHS and the "theys" of the world say to have a higher caster content for these russian engines. So I got some caster to add to my mix too, makes 'um run alittle cooler since castor can carry the heat out the exhaust pipe. Just alittle messy

Status: offline 		by adding oil to the gallon u no longer have a gallon of fuel. a gallon is 128 oz and if u add 3 or 4 more ounces u have 131-132 oz which makes all the percentages of the fuel wrong on the bottle. u may want to consider this. between 20-23% oil it won't make a difference if it is a good quality oil. i market my own fuel and for planes i run 12%, heli's 18% and cars 8% and most engines i have seen do more than 6 gallons of fuel. my own personal engine runs on 6% oil and it has 9 gallons thru it so far and still going.

Try using Klotz Benol castor oil, if you can get your hands on it. It's the best there is

Status: offline 		Xtreme is right about the calculation. To increase the oil content from 20% to 23%, you would need to add 5 oz of oil, not 3.5 oz. The formula for calculating it yourself is as follows: Oz of oil to add to one gallon of fuel = (D%-S%) x 128/(100-D%), where S% is the starting % oil, D% is the desired %. In your example, 3x128/77=4.99. I agree Rajul about Benol too.

Status: offline 		Or if you don't want to do the math go to www.nitrorc.com. Click on Custom Blending Workshop. At the bottom of the page is a realy neat program that allows you to come up with any % of oil, nitro etc. by simply plugging in a few numbers.

I got my fill of equations in college, back in the day of the slide rule. I'll take the easy way out every trip of the train.
