The Raleigh gang had a great event. Everything worked and all came home with more turbine time than when we left. I have to say the BVM Sabre (Old or new, mine is the old version, but new built) has more than enough "getty-up" with the P-70. It worked flawlessly. Here are a few pics.

AnthonyW -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 5:36 PM)

Now to take on a roll I normally do not take upon myself, but it is all in good fun. Here are a few pics of "STEVE", you all know him as "fentressjets". I understand times are very busy when you have to actually work for a living, but, Steve found the time to get his Viper back in the air late saturday. I was able to get a few pics of the flight. The first is at take-off, and the last two are of the US Navy recovery vehicle and Steve. (ran out of gas, lack of air in the retract system only allowed 2 our of three gear to extend.)
In Steve's defense, He flew the plane pretty good, considering he stated he had not flown in 5 months.

AnthonyW -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 5:38 PM)

There were several interesting sights to be seen this weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Jet Rally.
Such as.

AnthonyW -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 5:42 PM)

You know most jet flyers and other modelers spend all kinds of time designing the interiors of their trailers so everything has its place, all is secure for the ride to and from the events, BUT apparently this is totally unnecessary, as show here by master modelers and pilots, (names will remain un-mentioned, but you can tell by the trailer, faces and aircraft).
By the way, there are two bandits, a kingcat, and F-4 Phantom in the trailer. They put the F-100 in the back of the truck.

AnthonyW -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 5:47 PM)

There was a very impressive aircraft with what I feel is the "next generation Turbine". Here are a few pics of Jamie Snipes BMT, kero Start, Just say no to Propane engine, mounted on his beautifull Kingcat.

KHORTON -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 6:02 PM)

Another shot of Jamie's Kingcat with the BMT engine. Very impressive. Startups are just stupid simple, no air, no propane, no hookups of any kind and the engine started and ran flawlessly.

Anthony's new "Fly Safely" BVM F86. Finished just in the nick of time. Flew prefectly all weekend. P70 really hauls this baby around.
With new turbine models we're really dangerous now.

KHORTON -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 6:13 PM)

Mine and Anthony's Sabers waiting on another sortie. Mine is an older BVM F-86 which I completely gutted and refitted for a Wren 54 with a full BMV bypass, new inlet etc. The Wren is plenty of engine for this airframe and is very pleasant to fly. Not quite as fast as the P70 version but nice anyway. There were at least three of these engines at the jet meet and all three flew.

airega1 -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 6:37 PM)

Hey Anthony was that Violett's butt you took a picture of? LOL

AnthonyW -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 6:58 PM)

Hardly Frank,
This was impressive and Bob's body does not impress me.
Anthony

Anthony's pics of Steve's flight just knocked me out, first pic= Steve taking off, next pics= crash trucks and lights everywhere, Just could not stop laughing. Steve did put out some good effort, but the outcome was hilarious

FL Phathom -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 8:09 PM)

The Phanthom was at Fentress all day Saturday, I did observe Steve, and I want him as a food source for my 2 Bull Mastiffs. I'm back in Florida now but I'll be back when the Mastiffs are hungry. Fatten up Steve these guys got a big appetite.

AnthonyW -> RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (6/1/2004 8:23 PM)

Regarding Post 61, The BMT engine,
The Engine did work great. It worked so well, several people want a piece of it.
Including..................And the video....... www.my87.com/video/happy.avi

FL

So sorry I missed ya Sat.Anyways bring on the Mastiffs ,I got 2 very nicely polished 9mm slugs with their names writen all over them [:)]

This year was without a doubt the best Rally here yet.Had a blast as always.Anthony & Keith the Sabres looked & flew awesome! I am gonna hire me a installer soon to ease my workload so I can start enjoying my hobby wholeheartily again .I felt good with my flight sat .esp considering I hadn't flown since Jan as you mentioned. That would have been a very awesome flight had I not lost air .The UV flew sweet as to be expected from a BVM jet

Steve

Awesome time guys! Had to be one of the best meets I have attended..... Fentress gets better every year, it's one of the few I can manage to get the wife to join me [;)]. It was great to see old friends and new, Nascar boys had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt [:D]

Big thanks to Frank, NALF and the rest of the crew for hosting such a great event! Were already planning next year! Keep in touch guys...
