Status: offline 		OK guys, latest update... I now find that my inlet valve is faulty! If I remove the pump connector all the air quickly escapes... if I tighten up the valve core so that air pressure doesn't leak I can't get any air past it into the mousse can chamber.

Also, tuning the (other) variable valve for sequential/timed up & down is a real PIA! One leg works great, the other is either two fast or too slow; you need fractions of a degree (minutes ) of a turn.

It's going to take a lot for me to have any faith in these things now...

Here is the one and only response I received from Bruce on 3/18/04 concerning the status of my order. I have since E-mailed him two more times to no avail.

To be fair, I won't let my tiny piece of this thread hang in limbo. I received my order from cjm this evening(3/25). Almost three weeks since I placed my order. I've waited longer for other orders from other mail order companies. The difference being that when I requested some info as to what's happening with an order I would get a response. At least letting someone know that there order might take a few weeks to come in, keeps them from getting pissed off because someone can't take the entire thirty seconds it takes to respond to an e-mail.

Here's the kicker. What I ordered was a 1/10th scale jet pilot. It was hard to find one in that scale but I specifically wanted one with the sun visor down over the eyes(looks cooler to me). The cjm one on their website shows exactly what I wanted. I'm posting the pic from their website and then a picture of what I received. Close but not exact.

Status: offline 		I was surprised by the CJ's I received for my Kyosho Corsair. They are way heavier than I thought they would be.

They could be the right ones or not I don't know. When I E-Mailed CJ asking about their retracts for the Kyosho they said. Oh no problem they just fall right in without any modification. Well thats a bunch of BS.

After I had to E-Mail a reminder about me retracts I received them in short order.
I went to see how the fit was and they did not just fall right in as the CJ E-Mail said they would.

I E-Mailed Bruce Saunders and said I might not have the right retracts.
As I have stated in previous posts that I have not received an answer. I even called and left a message and still nothing.

I have since decided to put them in anyway. Although I had to do some grinding and sanding to make them fit through the spar and fit in the wheel well. They are waiting for the Epoxy to harden right now.
So we shall see how things go.

I have read with interest the comments to this post. The one's I found most fascinating was Richard L's Comment as U get what U buy. That comment should not be the case since one tries to do their homework before they make a purchase. The other comment he made was to Use Constructive Criticism. That ones hard to do also since you don't get a reply on anything from CJ.
The question is why should anyone say anything good when they can't get a conversation started.
(This is not a flame to Richard L it just a constructive comment)

Status: offline 		Thanks for the advice, i just bought my first scale plane (Top flight P-47 scale 1/8) and i was thinking to get the CJM retracts for it but i have changed my mind now, i gonna use the Robart ones instead.

Status: offline 		I just made a gear up landing today on a set of century retracts in a Wayne Siwert KI-84 Frank. Gear had worked fine on the bench for over 100 cycles. Both went up only one came down so goodby oilcooler, bomb hangers, 1/2 of the prop and the guts of at least two servos.
Going to use my own design that is somewhat like a spring air only with mechanical lock in the up position rather than just the air cylinder holding the gear up.

spring air brand retracts lock in both the up and down positions, and they stay locked in the up position as long as the air pressure stays high enough. when/if the air pressure drops to a certain point they unlock and come down, and lock down.

but you may want to take a look at sierra brand retracts, or shindin retracts. they make very good retracts and they look good- not sure if they make exactly what you want for the ki-84 tho.

i just purchased a KI 84 used from a local guy. never flown, new motor not run (G-62). i think that i have the dreaded CJ gear. can you email me off line with a pic or two of your gear. I'm concerned now!!

Status: offline 		thanks F4. i spoke with wayne on the phone for quite a while to help me identify this a/c to make sure it was his.....and it is. we determined that it is the CJ gear. now im not so happy (still was a great deal on the a/c)

i spoke with Darrell at Sierra, and he said he doesnt currently make the gear for the a/c

sooooo.....

can you guys here post links to sites that sell the gear?? darrell said he will make me a set of gear, but i also know that the demand for the gear is probably not that high.

you KI Frank guys, the person that i purchased the plane from evidently decided to repair the canopy front that had come off with brass screws, and he did a less than optimal job. can someone post here or email me backchannel a pic or two of how you have the canopy attached?? it would be most helpful

I sent my retracts back to CJM and as long as you contact Customs before you send them, you should get the VAT and import duty back.
