Hi,

My OS 15 LA goes well, easy starting and pretty good power. Been running for awhile and still going strong.

I just bought a NIB OS 15 FP. I never had one but all of my friends had, and I can't wait to start it up. The LA is probably just as nice but I like the classic looks of the FP so much better

Fox! A real powerhouse, and it actually tunes up the same as other engines! Short break in for an iron piston engine.

just got my new MVVS 2.5cc from DarZeelon and from the looks of it this will replace the Enya .11CX as my favorite small engine. rear exhaust and with a tuned silencer for a very good price. took it apart to measure everything and am really impressed with the quality.

I've tried the following on J&C Funbats, a 15-size combat plane:

OS LA-.15 -- was surprised by this engine, liked it better than the Magnum XL .15, definitely its equal in power and much more reliable. The only down is the remote needle valve is mounted on the rear plate which is plastic. Once in a great while I'm unable to bring the Funbat into a smooth belly landing. This usually resulted in a broken mount in the rear.

Magnum XL-.15 -- the standard 15-size combat engine in our area. Usually very dependable and more than capable.

MDS .18 -- well, what can I say -- its an MDS. (Who wants mine?)

OS CV-15A -- unfortunately it can't be used for other-than no-limit combat; it cost too much. Other than that, I'm flying my combat plane at 1/2 throttle while everyone else is at full. Reliability is 2nd to none. A prime and a quick electric starter bump is needed for the 1st flight of the day; subsequent flights just require a backwards finger twist against the compression and she starts on the 1st bump. Idle is silky smooth and power is to dream by.

What kind of revs are you getting on your .15's? I got about 14,500 on a TT GP .15 with 15% nitro Omega fuel and a MA 8-4 prop. The Fox gets 15,500 with 25% castor oil and 10% nitro, its not quite broken in but close.

Yep,
Most of these guys have never seen one of the Oliver MKIII (or much less a Cub) but what a kick and they do put out. My experience is with the new replicas that are available. First flip starts and great fun in control line models. The overall look and materials of the Olivers were way ahead of their time. Maybe you and I are just living in the past?? But how can any guy call himself a modeler and not have an Oliver or a replica in his shop?

I rather like 15s and have have about a dozen of them of various ages and from a number of manufacturers, but if I could only have one I would agree with sport-pilot and keep the Fox.

dieseldan-thanks for the offer about the diesel head, but at the moment it is in a pylon racer/themal machine so yeah...

Sport_Pilot- My 15LA was tached at 18700 on a 6.5x5.5 pylon prop on 15% nitro, after a few tanks, so without a doubt it will probably be spinning at 19k by now. It really screams on this prop, but I am not too happy with this high RPM on a plain bearing motor, so I have been running a 7x6 prop lately.

hilleyja-i have only been running my LA on a handlaunch plane, and had a few "firm" landings, and never had the plastic break.

Cheers,

Stefan
