Jay,

Don't think you where quite ready for primer yet, let alone paint. Sorry. You may have a couple
things working against you here. 1. You might be sanding so much that the FG fuse is heating up
causing small bumps or the bumps are small on a tapering area that is very hard to see.

If heat is a problem causing the bumps get away from the epoxy/micro and jump to the fillers
that are much easier to sand and feather (should be like night and day) If it is the other I some
times add a little food coloring to the filler after each patch so you can easily see where your
at and the small dents are accented.

As david says forget the paint till you get it right. Also on the pin holes, turn off the light and stick
a flashlight inside the fuse and it should be obvious if there are pinholes or not.

Fun huh

one thing, when wet sanding the primer a LOT came off very quickly. If I dry sanded it seemed to do better.

I should probably try that polyester compound ....

At any rate, I painted it. I will see if the balls show up during the sanding. I hope not....

Jay,

If the bumps are small then I would quit sanding. Don't use epoxy/micro. go to
and auto paint store and get some "metal glaze" by Evercoat. It is very easy to
fill and sand and the neat thing is the more hardener you add the faster it cures.
Plus you can sand it to a feather edge. Kinda reminds you cake icing.

Its is a polyester but it will work great.

Chuck

Chuck,

I finally got around to getting some glazing. Its amazing how good this stuff is for filling those small pits. I bought a tube of 'bondo glazing' it doesn't require a hardner but the results are similar to what you are describing. Its beautiful thanks.
