Guys I just got mine the other day from flying-hobby. I have set it up with 4ch Hitek555 receiver and Futaba 7UAPS transmitter 4 servos, PG03, and 30 amp ESC. I am using a 1600mah Lipo which doesnt fit anywhere so I am hanging it off the bottom till I order another one.

I am very confident now flying the dragonfly, doing circuits, etc. but when I started to spin this thing up I got scared. I was so scared I didnt have the nerve to lift it off the ground. The blade speed is incredibly fast and the landing gear looks a lot narrower.

I am not sure how to set up the transmitter properly since it starts to rotate before getting in the air and there are so many settings I dont know where to start... I will check up the futaba site for help or I might go back to ACRO basic mixing and set up the mixing manually...

Yes why don't we all order our Zoom 400s through fung and send all our money to Hong Kong and not support our local hobby shops that will sell the Zoom 400.

I would rather order a Zoom 400 through Dreamhobbies and pay that little more and help out our own suppliers.

I bought my zoom 400 through www.RcmHeli.com and got a good deal. And Hoverup I remember a while ago when the feda helicopters came out, you stated in one of the forums that you would never buy one of those helicopters as it was a copy of the piccolo, and it was a piece of junk. Look at you know.

Hoverup do you get special deals from fung by promoting his business on the every single forum out there.

Guys settle down. No one currently stocks the zoom in Australia so I didnt have much of a choice. I hear the hobby headquarters and dawn trading will be getting them soon to distribute to local dealers. No doubt I will be up for a set of blades in no time...

Okay folks, the personal attacks need to come to a stop or the thread will be locked down. Keep the discussion going based on the topic and not on each other. Thanks Dave, forum moderator.

Man... this heli is just... NUTS. :P Ive just started looking for micro heli's but this just takes the cake.. I had no idea such a small machine could have such heaping coolness.

Ill keep this one in mind when I go looking for an advanced micro. (After Ive masteres my fixed pitch Dragon, that is. )

Got my Zoom 400 today along with the protech electrics pack that goes with it.
(very eager)
I have an Eclipse 7 QCPM TX and crystals.
I installed the servos, gyro, esc and bnasically checked all the gear meshes etc.
Looking good so far (very impressed with teh build quality).
Anyway decided to pop the crystal in the protech rx and check the motor, servos etc.
This is where I have a probpem. the whole system is dead not even a flicker on the servos.
I have charged the Lipo pack (I know this is ok).
I changed my Eclipse from QCPM to PPM (for FM rx).
But nothing!
Can anyone help me out there???

Have I missed something obvious?

Can anyone tell me what receiver channels the servos and ESC connect to??
I set them as follows:-
1 - roll
2 - pitch
3 - ESC (and i guess power to the rx)
4 - Yaw
5 - Gyro
6 - Pitch (up & down)
Have I made a major mistake?

Oh I also checked the RX that came with the Eclipse, connected a few servos and no problem working fine.

Is it a compatability thing? If so what MIcro RX do I need to get???

Please help a bloke keep his sanity!!!!
Alan

Probbably the Cristal isnt compatible with the reciever. I had the same thing with my futaba cristal in a multiplex RX.
You need to get a RX Cristal thats made for your RX. (Well, that fixed it for me, anyway. )

Anyway... to anyone who knows (hoverup? if you see this post?)...
I've seen the zoom flies with gws naro std servos... just wondering...
would there be little difference between naro and hs-50 or hs56b servos?

Hi boyd,

You see, maybe you've noticed it before but i live in indonesia and it's pretty hard to get the components that i need specifically.
Right now, i can get standard gws naro which a friend of mine uses for cyclic and t/r servos in his zoom.

My question is, can i replace the cyclic servos (which normally uses hs-56b or hs-55) with standard gws naro servos? Hs-50 for t/r is the same servo that's used in hummingbird right? If it is, i can use the one on my hb/df for t/r servo on my zoom.

I'm also trying to find a shop which sells hitec eclipse7 who will accept bank transfer (it's hard to find one that'll accept visa from indonesia). Or maybe you have a spare transmitter that you'd like to sell to me? Anyway i need one with 72mhz frequency.

Thanks.

I got my Shogun (same as Zoom) set up over the weekend... WOW! After flying Aerohawks & Dragonflys, you will be amazed. This is one very stable yet agile machine.
My only problem is that it dropped a screw on its second flight, causing the tail rotor pitch to go out of control; the rest of the heli quickly followed. Ruined main blades & stripped out that nylon gear at the tail... have ordered replacement parts, but if anyone knows where to get those tail gears in bulk, give a shout; I think I will be replacing them quite often as they seem to wear pretty heavily just in normal flight, accidents aside. (See post "Zoom 400 tail gear problem" at www.rcuniverse.com/forum/zoom_400_tail_gear_problem/m_1809733/tm.htm for more info)
