Here is two pics of the retracts installed. I am worried about having to cut the lower spar apart for the wheel . The wings seems very weak now. I would be open for any ideas on how to reinforce this area. With a 62 oz per sq foot wing loading I am concerned. I was thinking about adding a 1/4 x 1/2 spruce spar spanning between the nacelles infront of and behind the wheel well opening. And then adding some carbon fiber to it before the sheeting.

Wes,
Are the large holes behind the retract for an aluminum wing joiner? If so that may the structural support for the wing. I have not seen the plan, I am just guessing by what I see.
By the looks of it, no retracts would fit in there without cutting the spars.

The holes are for the air lines and servo wires.

Here is the next set of pics. I have completed the install of the left retract and am ready to route the air hoses. The aliron has scale hinges made of 3/32nd ply amd music wire . I have to add the ribs to the lower part of the aliron. I did find a way to make fowler flaps with no external linkage. I made three hinge guides with two slider grooves in them then mounted them to the trailing spar of the wing. I then built the flap and used two slider blocks blocks on each side of the hinge guide and installed two pins through them. The serve is mounted in the wing under the nacelle. I have most of the right wing flap done and still have the aliron to build , but that won't take long aftewr doing the the other side. I have added sheeting between the rids where the lower spar has been removed for the wheel. I will then add some carbon fiber to the sheeting before I add all of the final wing sheeting. I hope that it will be strong enough for a 62o.z. wing loading. That's all for now I will post other pics as I get more done.

Things are going slow for now. I am also remoeling a 100 year old two story house at the same time. Talk about work. I am working on the other flap and aliron right nopw. I ordered a mcdaniel onboard glow driver that should be here wed or thurs next week. Once I install that I will beable to sheet the bottom of the wing. I am now looking at the new saito .82's for power. the spec's show that they will fit fully inside the cowl. I am going to use the new 9303 transmitter from JR. It has alot of neet fetures of scale planes. I will post pics when I can.

Thanks, Wes

Nothing worth taking pics of yet. I have still been real busy on my house projects. I am installing a glow driver system and some servo wiring. I should be able to sheet the bottom of the wing in a week or so. I will post new pics as soon as I can.

Thanks, Wes
