I thought I'd post a reply to stop the "dusters" falling off the bottom of the page.

You might call it tactical voting!

Most of the ag-heads are spending time on either the Austars Ag Husky page or the H9 Piper Pawnee page. Those are hot threads currenty. Talk of a new Cessna 188 Ag Husky w/ 110'' wing span is very exciting news to many of us.

Confirmed, I talked to him earlier today. He just sent me a picture. That Ratty Thrush keeps getting better with age!!. Ag-air rules!

His thrush is a piece of art. I wish he offered plans because I would love to build one.

I've mentioned that to him before, but I think the only plans are on a paper napkin and in his head!

Pretty much true, the computer/harddrive that the had the drawings for the smaller one (82" WS) crashed a long time ago and the large one(108" WS) was built from old sketches enlarged on a copy machine and taped together 5/6 years ago! Besides, this gray head matter ain't what it used to be, nor my time to spend on models and/or drawings required to produce something like that.

Congratulations Mr. Hayes on your accomplishment at Top Gun this year. I hope your above comment doesn't mean you're going to stop producing/building/finishing such beautiful works of flyable art. Although, it would be nice not to have to compete against you in the future when I get to that point .

Congrats David on the win. Who would've thought a model after my Uncle's duster would be winning a world premier show! Again congrats on the accomplishments.
Thanks for the 3-views by the way. I've slowly been working on putting the outline in my CAD program. Maybe one day I'll have some plans to go by to finally build one. What was the exact scale of the 108" ws Thrush?
Thanks alot and congratulations!

The current one is 3/16ths or 18.75% scale, 108" span, 17" cord, for 1800+sq", 66" long and weighs in at a hefty 28lbs. It flies with a Saito 1.80 burning 30% Omega turning an APC 18 X 6 prop and guided by a JR 8103 on 72mhz with JR 4721 and 4131 servos. I converted the spray system to a regulated CO2 supply right before TG '08 which added an additional 1 1/2 lbs to the empty weight and expels ~10 oz of powder and ~6 oz of CO2 per flight.

I don't plan to stop competing any time soon, just don't have time to be backtracking right now. Planning now for a trip to Sarasota FL for the Scalemasters Championships on Oct 8-12th and trying to figure out how to squeeze a trip to the NATS in too. Gotta get my vacation/time off requests in at work now!

That's how much my 1/4 scale Piper Pawnee weighs dry (28 lb.)....same wingspan, too (108''). Just recently built, so I have not flown it yet.
Where can we see a video of your Thrush in flight, post a link? Thanks.

See the plane here, post #875

I know that it is not as big as Top Gun, but would you be interested in bringing your beauty to our IMAA event on July 19. It is in Goldsboro, NC. I know that everyone here would love to see your plane. (Wayne Miniature Aeronautic club) Our feild is in the Rosewood community off of Hwy 581.

I am looking forward to your reply.
Alan

Alan,

I work retail and only get every 4th Saturday off and it's tough take a extra day off on weekends but if the date works out with my corporate schedule I'll make an effort to be there. It's been several years since I've come to your fly-ins I'll see what I can do.
