I have a problem here

instructions call about gluing a piece of carbon fiber to join the trailing edges, this is not in the box and I can't find that in the workshop. should I go to buy or may I replace with what I found.

I found this, and i think salmonbug call that fiberglass, is that the same?

I have not built this kit but that is probably for putting in the middle of the wing after it is assembled. You ca the cloth on for strengh. The carbon fiber should be some black looking stuff like what you have in the middle of the fuse.

The carbon fiber strip is a black strip (looks like black cloth) about 1/4 inch wide and about 25 to 30 inches long. You need to cut 2 10 inch long pieces out and glue that over the joint of the 2 23 inch long spars. A 1/4 wide by 1/8 thick by 10 inch long hardwood piece is glued on top of that.

I did mine by taking the CF strip and laying on top of the joint. I then put the hardwood on top of that and clamped it together (MAKE SURE IT'S PERFECTLY STRAIGHT!). I then took my extra thin CA and wicked it in to glue the assembly together. Just take the thin CA and let it run into the cracks of the joints. I think you should really use CA glue for this part!

Yes. Mine was folded up with the wood. Look around the shop. It might have fallen on the floor....the kids might have grabed it thinking it was a ribbon, it might be under something.

No....that is completely different stuff. I think we need some more help here. Try sending a PM to Swany and ask his advice. Since you said your husband had extra 1/4 square hard stock, you might be able to substitute that instead of the thin hardwood and CF strip. It would require cutting the spar notches out a little on the inner ribs, though.

If you can wait, maybe he can mail you a new CF strip.

I think you'll be fine. It looks to me like Swany was trying to save weight by using the CF strips and thinner hardwood. It's gonna add a few ounces, but the 46 will be able to handle it.

Cover it and your hubby will never know

I think he will be able to see it when he will open the radio access hatches
I will explai this is my personal female touch to improve the design !!

before I go I will post a pics of everithing before gluing.

I have a other concern, there is something I don't understand on the plan.
on the main spars (the one I am going to reinforce) there is a shadded aera in the center.
I first tough this shaded aera was showing the position of the reinforcement strip, but it's much more longer than 10 inches

what is it?

Ok I am ready to go

here is a pic showing two 10 inches long 1/4 spars made in the strongest wood I could find (I think it's from a tree called 'pin" in french)
I plan to glue them in the center of each 1/4 balsa spars assembly with epoxy
I also draw arrows on the ribs showing the notches I plan to enlarge to 1/2 inch total depth

GO ?
you need to have a close look on the pics to see my arrows

i align all the ribs on the spare. the main spar is exactly at the position showed on the plan, but the trailing ege spar is aproximatly 1/4 inches backward of the position showed on the plans, do I have to cut the ribs to correct ?
