I've used a 6 volt NiMh 700 mAh from batteryspace.com. They hold up pretty good. You could also go with a small lipo.

Ready for the maiden flight...

A lot heavier than I wanted... 2lb 11 oz... tried to save weight here and there. Imagine a lighter engine woulda made a difference. This GMS .32 is 12.65oz. Hoping a 10x3 will pull it around okay.

The carbon fiber ribbon I put on the spruce member down the middle of my fuse just didn't cut it so I added a piece of Carbon Fiber Strip bolted in place with 2-56 hardware. Very rigid tail now.

Now I just need a good day at the field.

Looks nice! good luck with the maiden...

In the Fat Free Taco design, I use a fiberglass rod down the fuse to help with stiffness… Also makes it a lot stronger and lighter…

Thanks, Paul.

I saw that in your FF thread(partially answered my question regarding how you got it lighter!).

Regarding the materials, what is the difference between fiberglass and CF rods of the same dimensions? Was the tube of this size not rigid enough?

I never make a list up... but basically you'll need

3-4 sticks 1/4 sq
2 sticks 1/4 x 3/8
2 sticks 1/8 x 1/4
3 - 4 sheets 1/16 x 3 sheeting
1 - 2 sheets 1/16 x 3 ribs
8" x 3/8 x 1/2 maple
some 1/4" scrap

Hi Paul,

I've just started with my Taco, but one thing I did not catch: what to use for leading edge ?

Tnx
