Stomper, that is an amazing field box! Scratch built I presume? It has that lovely patina from decades of use!

Blackie, that is a clever conversion of that HF wagon! I have one of the super size HF wagons without the wooden sides that I use to haul my boats and gear to the pond. But for my field box I wanted a wagon just big enough for the box. I will not be transporting my plane on it so the hard wheels did not matter to me. I bought it online, shipped, for $34.99 so it worked out well for me.

Yes scratch built and yeah it's a little worn.
How is your's coming? Got paint yet?
You need to strip an R/C monster truck and build it into your feild box and then you can just drive it from the car to the pits. as well any flame outs on the way out taxing, you can just switch the transmitter to Feild box and drive that sucker right over to you.

LOL!

Well for paint, I decided when I was building it and reading this thread that I liked the natural wood look so I just stained and varnished it. It won't be getting any paint.

Kmot,

Thanks a million!

It only took me 2 months of head scratching, sweating, bleeding and about $300.00!
But it does all that I want and more than most need.

I didn't realize till after I posted that some of the text was cut off in certain shots, I'll download new ones tomorrow.

(coleman)red and white cooler, hinged top...real easy in and out of the car (un-like hard wood field gear)...I glued/screwed an electric fuel pump on the inside and this box carry's a 12 volt power source, flight line tools, fuel (gallon jug) and hand starter...there is also room for my radio...if you make your own, be sure and drill hole's all the way around the bottom (about two inch's up)...the fuel fumes need to escape or you could have a small bomb in your car...

Hey Kmot... I really like your field box.. Did you say it was a Goldberg kit? I looked on that site and didn't see one like it. Can you tell me where you got it? Thanks!

The fuel tray is only stowed for transport. It is removed for fueling and charging, to ensure adequate airflow. I'll be adding another banana plug receptacle soon, the one I started to install cracked when I over-torqued the connector (that's what you get for working after 1 in the morning!). I'm still toying with different ways to install a cradle.

Notice that the plane is seat-belted in and how perfectly it fits in the back seat. I think I'll be building one or two more 48" winged planes!

Now THAT's an effiecient use of space!!

Cheers!

To all those "REAL CRAFTSMAN" - who build their own "real field boxes",

Perhaps you need a CADDY to transport all your gear to flight line?
See RCU # 66506 it was build to ease and help for just that.
See also RCU add #66507 - for yourself , friends or to just spread the word around.
Thanks
