Hi All ... brand new to RC Helicopters and I am hoping for a little help. I read pages of posts and didn't see one with my specific problem, but I'll appologize in advance if I just missed it.

When I power on the helicopter and transmitter the LED light on the helicopter goes from blinking green and red to just a solid red light. I have the trottle trim turned all the way down and the throttle stick is in the nuetral position.

I just got this today, it was a birthday gift from my mom :-), I have only gotten the rotar to spin twice so far but it won't spin the rotar with the solid red light. I charged the battery overnight, so I dont think that's the problem. I re-seated the crystal on both the helicopter and the transmitter. Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
TG

the Ni-MH battery that comes with the HBFP should only be charged for 2 hours max. is that the battery you have?

Yes, it says 8.4v 650mAh Ni-MH on the battery. So you think over charging it may have been the culprit? It was supposed to come with 2 battery packs but mine only shipped with one. I have to call them on Monday.

that could be the reason, thats one of the best ways to ruin a battery, the red light usually comes on when the battery voltage is too low (thats what mine does), do you have any local hobby stores in your area? Most will carry that kind of battery, its pretty generic type of battery, Also always use a timer or alarmclock when charging (so you don't forget) these chargers DO NOT turn off , please be careful not to forget and leave them unattended when charging, there is always the possibility of it catching fire (very slim chance, but why take any chances that can be avoided)

Thanks for the quick response nuttcaze! I'll try and locate a place to buy a spare battery pack or two and be more careful with the charging time. I'll let you know it goes, Thanks again.

also if you have a way of testing the voltage on the pack, there is a chance that its still godd, but if the throttle is in the down position and all connections are good and tight, theres no other reason why it'd always blink red on the 4in1, even with some heavy crashes I've never hurt mine, but one other question, did you have a minor crash and forget to immediately throttle down to off? If you did crash (crash meaning for whatever reason the blades hit something and stop turning and you are still giving it throttle) and forgot to throttle down you could have damaged the 4in1. Another question, did the heli start acting up before you removed the crystals? If not, did you remove the crystal at anytime with the batteries still in the Tx? I read somewhere that it could damage the crystal if you leave the batteries in. Another reason the red light blinks is when the Rx doesn't "see" the Tx, not sure what would cause that though

I would think that your throttle should be all the way down, as well as your trim. All the other sticks and trims should centered ????

Yes, I picked that up too. The throttle needs to be all the way down, off, not in the center or the 4-in-1 will not go green and stay on solid.

ohhhh, he wrote that the throttle trim is at the bottom and the throttle stick is in the middle, twisted theres your problem, it needs to be the other way around, trim in the center, throttle stick all the way down

Is this the definitive Honey Bee Fixed Pitch thread? I thought I stumbled across one a while back with over 250 pages of replies, but I cannot seem to find that anywhere.

Anyways I'm tooling around with a co-ax right now, and when I make the move to my next heli it is looking like it is going to be an HBFP.

I just want to do some research, so if there is another thread (a definitive one) please post the URL

Thanks!

Happy Flying.

Tony,

I buy virtually all of my parts and upgrades from U.S. Hobby Supply ( http://www.ushobbysupply.com/ ). They are not the biggest vendor on the web, so once in a blue moon there may be something I'll need to get someplace else - but the excellent service, cheap shipping, and magnificant technical support from Michael their president makes them my dealer of choice. If they don't have something, I write to see if they can get it - since they are so great to deal with! I usually get my order the next business day too, which can't be beat. Can't say enough good things about this company!

I got the Esky flight simulator package ($15 to $20) when I originally ordered my HBK2 and it came with a nice Esky 0905A USB flight simulator controller and a CD with FMS on it. Much easier than paying $10 for a USB cable to use my real transmitter - I can leave it plugged into the computer all the time... FMS never worked very well with my high end video card, which is a common problem that I've seen others complain about. It was also terribly difficult to set up so that it worked with the Esky USB controller too. Add to that the fact that it didn't seem to have a HBK2 model - and I was convinced to get the ClearView flight simulator ( http://rcflightsim.com/download.html $39 shareware) which has been well worth the price. FMS looks not ready for prime time compared to ClearView on my computer anyway. Photo-realistic scenery, tons of helicopter models including the HBK2 and T-rex, and it worked perfectly first try out of the box with the Esky USB controller. $39 also buys you "forever" version upgrades too. Does weather and training modes but worked infinitely better than the FMS simulator for me.

I found this web site (for real, big helicopters) to be useful in learning about helicopter flight: http://www.dynamicflight.com/ It has great sections about basic aerodynamics and helicopter flight manuvers.

Hope this helps!

Dave
