I see. Thanks for the explanation.
If you had to make an adjustment to the thrust angle after flight testing..is it adjustable..?

you could put shims uner the front or rear, however i have put alot of time into these pods the original pod was made from jet joe and the plans are in rc modeler magizine for the 6" byron fan you have to build that one from srcatch, I re engeerned the unit for 5 ' fans the angel I have put in to the are perfect I made a fiberglass mould and have the inetior wood parts lazer cut

There is a guy in the 1/2A forum who is piecing together a little fan unit for a .09 engine. He's doing a great job, but it looks more challenging and exacting than building a "ship in a bottle".
My guess is that you need to find the thrust angle that agrees with the planes' natural glide trim with no power.

the pods i use with the 5" fans are perfect no need to mess with the angle, i have spent countless hrs getting it right, many people who try to do build thing with no idea what there doing useally ends up in a crashed airplane
and also balancing the plane correct makes a a big difference its always better to be nose heavy than tail heavy

Well in my experience, Too Nose Heavy flies poorly.... Too Tail Heavy Flies Once... So I can only agree that the CG is a very critical measurement.

FLIGHTJOCKEY
Do you have pictures of your setup and could you give a brief rundown of the reasons that you chose what you did? Please include batterys, ESC, ...

Thanks,
Nick

i Use 4035-640 high output outrunners for motors, castle 100 hv esc in 10 cells of lypo on one of the planes. the other has fly, fly 110 hv esc, hyperion 4035-64 motor on 10 cells of lypo ill take some photos this wekend sometime and attach as far as cg settings you arte correct most cg settings go from 20 to 30 plus % when i build anything new i start where the kit says to balance if is scratch or a modified kit ill strt at 25 % when i fly it ill get it up and flying trim it out and see from there, a dive test tell what you really need to know, now days with the internet there are so many CG caculator programs out thet that work spot on nothing like the old, (35 years ago we really need to know out stuff. I guess after 30 years in the Air Force I picked up a few pointers about aero dynamics

Quick Question.... seems that some of the planes are heavy ... is it possible to build one at 6lbs, if using a .60 size engine ? What is a good engine/prop pair for this plane in the .6o size?

I have done many prop static tests on many different motors, i use only apc 11x7 onn .60/.61 engine, getting about 8 lbs of static thrust the average encorcer will be 8 to 10 lbs depending whrt you do to it even if you had a 12 lb plane 8 lbs of thrust will still make a fast plane

Wow, nice work! Not much left of the original Enforcer Do those engines have crankcases that can rotate? Can't figure out how you got the mufflers to both face the inside...

the motor's are the old style of magnums, where thr both the front and rear hubs come off, on the right motor I switched the front and rear to get the exhaust on the left I also took the carb apart, and flipped it so the bottom is on the top, I did this so the throttle rod to the servo is on the opposite of exhaust total weight dry is 13.0 lbs i am getting 14.8 lbs of ststic thrust, should fly very well and fast
