Hi, there anybody can give me info about the enforcer. My friend give me his plane, only the mounted body. no mounting installation, no servo installed, no covering, no gear, nothing. I want to place the servo in back of the plane, i don't reallay know where to place fuel tank and battery, because i ignore where is the CG. I want to use retract, can you suggest me a model and type plz... thanks for your help.. gotcha_000@hotmail.com

Nice ! I watched it carefully... Did you forget that belly airbrake on take off or did you retract it just at brake release ? And what about landing it flat on the grass (with gear up) ? Or maybe you ran out of air... Finally, what about that aiframe/engine match ? Is it still too powerful or may a Jetcat p80 be suitable ?

Hello Strykaas,
I noticed that the speed brake was down as I was starting the take-off roll, so I put it up right after that.
One of the main gears hung up so I did a two wheel landing in the grass. I have wing tip skids on it so no harm was done. No more wire struts for me!
It could be done but a P-80 is heavy and more power than it needs. The Enforcer is not a large plane so a P-60 would be a better choice, plus there's not room for much more than 64 oz. (or 2 liters) of fuel. A friend put a P-70 on one and that was more power than needed. My Wren 54 puts out 14 lbs. thrust and I've been clocked at 160 mph straight and level.
Joe

OK Joe thanks for the info. Indeed the P60 could more suitable, but it is also (strangely) more expensive than the P80 and P70...So I won't buy one. It's not always easy to guess engine installation weight as manufacturers don't give similar figures (engine only / installed etc..).

Add 2 ozs. of turbine oil to your fuel and add 1 head shim to your engine - I can get 20 flights out of a McCoy 9 plug-make SURE all the head bolts are tight. I LOVE DF.
A long long time ago...! I start building this plane.... I work a lot on my Enforcer last month to finish it... Finally it's done.
Many mods on it.
Wing reinforcement with carbon strip on main spares and plywood for landing gear between ribs Functional rudders Retractable gears Dual gas tank (4 oz header, 12 oz main) OS.91FX on a Perry pump Some redesign on wing tip and elevons Incline rudder with airfoil for thickness and stiffness Bad points (too be redone in winter) Reinstall all servos near controls surfaces to remove all play in controls. I used Nylon Rods for all surfaces, all servos are in front. I glue the outer tubes every 2 inches, but it still have play in controls. Not good for speed task….
Finally the maiden comes. I tried it with a pusher 12X8. Enough thrust to take off and fly. But the engine clearly sound under prop or outside is torque range. I will go next time with a 14x6. I will add an UltraTrust muffler on that OS and maybe try again the 12X8.
The Maiden! An hour before the flight the airplane was upside down at home for the balancing process...! I was rush... people at club waiting for me!
At field everything was perfect; a club friend makes a second checkup just to be sure I didn't forget something... Verdict: pass!
I'm not good enough in English to describe everything, so check the video! Too resume, on first attempt to take off, one gear came off the plane. The steel or cheap metal/aluminum casting rod broke in the middle. I lost one wheel. The plane makes a flip in long grass…
Take 5 minutes to check everything, fix temporarily the landing gear, and gives it another chance for takeoff. The plane was not perfectly level, because on landing gear was shorter than the other one! But safe enough! Same thing happen again, the second gear, broke in the middle like the other one, but when it does that, I manage to put ailerons and a bit of elevators to hold the plane on 2 wheels. The plane start to climb, so I flew it!
Not fast has I expected, but not too bad either.... The landing was a little ruff! I slow it down until it drops on the ground about 1 feet height. I didn’t want it to flip over and broke my rudders by trying to land it on wheels with more speed.
Finally, I order new steel rods for my landing gear. I prefer it to band than broke!

Quoi "landing" au Quebec ?? Bon sang un bapteme de l'air ne se termine pas en 'landing' !!! Samuel De Champlin se retourne dans sa tombe !! Ahhh , way back to business : Why didn't you land it flat (gear retracted) ? Maybe it's due to its (big) size but it looks damn slow. This kit definitely needs turbine power I would install a full length unmuffled tuned pipe right away on this one. Last, were the rudders any useful ?
Strykaas - Quoi, "Landing" n'est pas le terme pour atterrissage! Je suis nul en anglais!!!
I didn't land it flat, because we put shorter rods and bigger wheels for the take off (the original one was broke, on first attempt). If I would try to retract them, they should not able to close properly and probably burn the retract servo. But in final, the landing was not so bad. Nothing broke… just not very graceful!
Yep... It is slow.... I don't understand how people can fly it with an 11X7. I put a 12X8, turning not far 12 300 rpm and the plane looks slower than a trainer! With this gig airframe and thick wing, I need thrust to make it move. Next weekend, UltraThrust muffler and a 14X6, I will try a 13X7 too. I know, it will never be a Speed plane…. But I tried!
Oh, the rudders.... they are functional... I don't used them on my first flight... next time... but I test them! they work great, but I don`t know if i will be able to knife edge this bird with these rudders... to be follow on next flight!

Si, "landing" est le bon terme, mais j'aurais préferé entendre "atterissage" !
Regarding props, I'm no expert bu the Byro Enforcer is faster with an even smaller prop (a fan). You need RPMs for speed ! With a huge 14'' prop, you'll have pretty good vertical performance but poor top end speed...
Ok, you make reference to the video, now I understand!!! Yep, like 'AirpLAINe01' says many Anglophone in our rc club.
Yep, a 12X8 is faster than a 14X6, no doubt about it. But for every plane, you have to experiment until you found the better match for speed, torque, vertical, 3d, etc...
That plane ready to flies, weight 10 pound flush... My 12X8 at 12300 rpm produce only 9 pounds of thrust. In dive the plane is fast, but on flat it needs more thrust to push it. Max speed with a 12X8 is 93 mph on flat. The plane wasn’t going more than 60 mph.... lack of thrust....
To resume, I will test different type of prop, tune the engine to have the best of this plane....
