Any way but FULLY emptied will work. Store them charged and they will gradually discharge on their own. A cool place would be nice.

Kind of a toss up question as some will answer one way and others will answer the opposite. Personally I store mine discharged because a discharged battery will never short and cause a fire. Either way they will likely be discharged by the time you want to use them. Best to trickle them back up the 1st time to avoid any possible cell reversal due to complete discharge.

I'd like to expand on that question - 6/24/2002 10:46:32 PM

I have a single radio/receiver combination I use to fly, and don't fly too often. Would it be most correct then to just let the batteries sit in the transmitter and plane after flying, and allow them to continue to slowly discharge; and then rather than recharging right from that partially discharged state, turn on the tx and rx and let the batteries discharge, and then recharge before flying again? Sorry that question got long. Also, I have had the same batteries for almost three years now, just for safety reasons should I be changing the packs? How can you test to see if the batteries are getting a 'memory effect'?

thanks in advance!

I perform every 100 flight a full test, as I did when just bought, and compare the results, it' also a great idea to buy a cheap but working multitester...from 5 to 15 dollars should be ok!
