alright, thank u a very lot. i gont mind paying a hair under 50 for a set up. and, which servo horn do i need to use? white adjustable or white of-set straight?

jefx -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/30/2004 2:33 AM)

If you're using a servo saver, you won't need another horn. Just the servo saver.

Project_2501 -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/30/2004 3:27 AM)

no, no, theres 4 different ones included in the pacgage. does the saver replace them all?

G35Coupe -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/30/2004 4:02 AM)

Yes.

Project_2501 -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/30/2004 4:06 AM)

I just ordered the HS-5645MG it was $15 more than the 645. Has anyone had any experiences with this one? I'm hoping it will be a little better on the centering.

Deandome -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/30/2004 6:42 PM)

I THINK the 5645 will be better. I know it's digital, has bearings, metal gears, great specs. It's NOT just a digital version of the 645.

I got the 5945, which is the same as yours with a coreless motor, but I only did so 'cause I got it at a great price from a seller here on the RCU Marketplace (plug-plug!!).

What does digital mean? Not that you ask, and more importantly, I don't really know, so I'm hoping someone can help explain it. I don't think you need it for basic higher-end radio functions (endpoint setting, anti-lock, etc,) but I do think you need them for the "HSR" radios (high-speed response), and you actually need a special programmer to take full advantage of them. I guess you can set them to work like a fail-safe, where the servo actuates to a preset position if you go outta range.

Like I said, I think a lot of us would like to know what "digital" really brings to the table re. servos, so please chime in!!

allen0622 -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/30/2004 6:48 PM)

If you guys do a search in the radio thread there's lots of explanations for the analog vs. digital questions. I'm still a little confused by it. Mostly airplane guys were discussing it.

vtraudt -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/31/2004 7:52 PM)

I just ordered one and paid $39 + shipping. I have one Emaxx with the stock 2055 (sucks), the other had teh Hitec in. I am also having my eye on a XTM X-175 MGHP Torque Punisher SX

4.8 volt = 175oz. and .22sec.

6.0 volt = 210oz. and .17sec.

dimensions = 41 x 20 x 40mm

for $35

By the numbers, that is even better than the Hitec (which sometimes seems to have problems to return to neutral).

Hitec HS-645MG Ultra Torque; 133 oz/in at .18 sec $52 big ones!

vtraudt -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (3/31/2004 7:53 PM)

I have the MG also, certainly MUCH better than the stock 2055, but I have seen some problems with returning to neutral.

X-175 is a great servo, i just bought one :)

vtraudt -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (4/1/2004 1:36 AM)

Did you upgrade from a stock 2055? Or other?
Do you know how it compares with the Hitex HS 645MG?

Let us know.

What benefits exactly does the proline steering kit offer?

Let us know.

I also use a hitec 645mg servo in my almost Stock T-maxx. Seems to work pretty well. I paid $35 for mine brand new. I also run a JR z590m Servo on my show max. It works wonderfully and turns the wheels with plenty of torque. The only suggestion I have is to go with a proline steering kit or at the very least a Kimborugh $6 servo saver if you put in any hi-torque servo. It will make a world of difference in high speed cornering.

Check out my site for a few pics of my cars with the servos!

i upgraded from the stock

motionmachine -> RE: Good Higher performance steering servo for Maxx (4/5/2004 5:56 PM)

My .02 - I've got 3 busted hytec servo's, all are the hi torque models from cheap to top shelf, all did an ACCEPTABLE job until they broke from my abuse. Although I could have gotten them replaced for free (warrantee), it really wasn't a defective servo, just an UNDERRATED one!
I got tired of replacing them all too often so I bought an Airtronics 358 and haven't had ANY regrets since.
Now we have a few more Quality choices, my advise is to buy a
GOOD QUALITY servo now, you'll actually save money (by not replacing them every few months) and time (not waiting on replacement) in the long run.
I busted my first airtronic 358 servo after 2+ years of pure MT abuse,
I gaurantee I got my moneys worth and didn't hesitate to buy another.
Also, I spent $30 to rebuild the busted one, its good as new now, its been in service in another MT for over a year now without ANY problems.

I spotted a new 275 oz HT servo (cant recall brand name), I haven't done any research on it yet but it may be my next one I try. With nearly 100 oz more torque than the Air 358, its definitely something to look at and consider.
