ORIGINAL: Florian Kuehni You're completely right with the !QUOT!plastic-point!QUOT!, glad to hear we're thinking in the same lines... The radial is 10years old, it has never run (well, I ran it now). You can't buy them anymore, it was a one man company producing them until the late nineties. However, this guy lives in Germany and is still around from what I've heard and is willing to provide help where he can do. He produced different types of radials, starting with a little 5-cylinder, the 7-cylinder 4.2, a 9-cylinder 5.8, a big 7-cyl 10.8 (if I'm right) and even some examples of a 14-cyl double row radial... He didn't produce much more than 200 pieces of each type, and they are really worth gold. I got mine second hand from an old man who had to give up this wonderful hobby... Despite of waiting in a box for 10 years, the radial started immediatly and didn't stop until I told him to, now that's what I call an engine. You should hear the sound, it's amazing. They provide plenty of torque, at the moment it swings a Menz 24x8 with ease, it picks up RPM like a racing machine with pump. The outer diameter is some 23cm (approx 9 inches) this leads me to a scale of 1/5.33 => 93!QUOT! ws. I could go smaller, but there's plenty of urge and I can keep the wing-loading lower that way, use robart#150 gear a.s.o.... I will have to make a custom exhaust system (scale look of course), what material did you use on the royal?? The pic attached shows the backside with the OS-carburettor mounted to it. It doesn't need a bigger one, 'cause there is only one cylinder firing at once. The prop, by the way, does two revolutions until all the cylinders are fired once. No reduction gear though, it's all done by the valve control system. The valve pushrods are not enclosed, so you can really see the rods and valves moving while it runs...beautiful...
