dionysusbacchus -> F2G Corsair Build (3/29/2004 9:39:19 PM)

Hi all, I would first just like to say thank you for those that have given me support and a special kiss my a$$ to all the retards that always annoy the hell out of me![:@] I may be back in several months when I get the F2G done, we’ll see. The plans are for the most part complete, but I may make changes as I build the prototype. The F2G plan is not a stand-alone plan, it is meant to be used with the Royal plan, only the parts that need to be modified for the F2G version will be drawn on the F2G plan. I’m currently bashing an old Royal kit in 1/8 scale of course! When all the details are hashed out I’ll enlarge the F2G plan to 1/6 scale.

The first picture is of the wing. I am making the intakes functional and I want the retracts mounted up close to the leading edge so I made the kits balsa f-18 sub leading edge out of plywood. Also the modifications were made for the intakes of the wings, measured from a full scale F2G. Rib W-2 is the only rib that needs modification; the proper airfoil shape needs to be added to the bottom.

A look at the early plan, more will be added to the plan as the build progresses.

Thanks again guys,

Luke

Luke,
Welcome back!!

What color scheme for this one??

And yes, how did the royal fly?

The readers are dying to know!

Juice -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/30/2004 3:01:46 AM)

Hi Luke... I'm glad you're back. You have a lot of fans that easily outnumber the non-fans. Don't worry about them.

You should set a rule in this thread early... NO FLAMING allowed in this thread. We want to see your progress on this F2G without having to filter through all that junk.

But I'm dying to know... We're all dying to know... Has #108 flown yet?

Juice

Welcome back Luke, from one who has done both.

rednmc165 -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/30/2004 3:08:43 PM)

You go. I am working on a F2G myself for the upcoming year. I am in the middle of finishing the tail section as I wait for some retracts for my wing. I'll post some pictures once I get them scanned in.

Norm

WarpdSpazm -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/30/2004 3:15:23 PM)

Alright!... Welcome back!

You just can't keep a good man down... This urge to pull my Corsair off the rafters has suddenly intensified.

And just ignore the monkeys. They talk out of their a$$e$ most of the time anyhow.
Good luck with the F2G. And as others have asked, how's the famous royal??

F4u5 -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/30/2004 4:01:09 PM)

PeteJoMan -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/30/2004 11:02:57 PM)

And if you really have a problem, I have my uncle in Jersey that can take care of things. All joking aside Luke, I, personally can not wait to see your latest creation. Your last drug out a TF F4U that has been sitting on the shelf for 3 years... uncompleted. Bout ready for the maiden. Don't let the naysayers drag you down, the people that benefit (and really and truly care about your posts) out number the S#@!heads 1000:1. Welcome back.

Sincerely,
Pete Mandeville

Welcome back Luke. Now lets have some more lessons on how to do things the right way.

F2G-1 -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/31/2004 2:01:54 AM)

Great minds must think alike !
I'm in the middle of doing the same to my TF.
I've finished the tail feathers, and tonight i'm finishing the top half fuse. (I skipped the wing for now, because I couldnt wait to see how the mods looked, and no retracts yet.) I'll finish the wings before I finish the fuse bottom. I blew up a profile of the F2G and layed it over the plans, reworking only the parts needed. I'll post some pics later.
Good to here from you. BTW, how that other project?

Ted

Heres picture, i'm making new cowl, TF cowl in picture just to get idea of how its going to look.

dionysusbacchus -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/31/2004 2:58:32 AM)

Thank you all, I would like to respond to each one of you but I don’t have time right now. You all inspire me, and I’m glad I’ve helped some of you along the way. It wasn’t my intent to do a full build on RCU for the F2G, maybe I will now, I don’t know. I want to work ahead a little, lots of stuff to work out first. For instance I’m toying with the idea of scale aileron hinges and completely hidden scale actuators. I need time to finish the plans for these things and then build them.

Nice to hear from you all again. I’ll be sure and write more later…

Luke

[8|]Geez...I was looking at the member sign-up dates, not the posts dates..........welcome back Luke.

rednmc165 -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/31/2004 4:52:22 AM)

There is a manufacturer for radial acuators out there already. I have a set for my ailerons only because these things work well and are proven on some large Madera racers. Should clean up the craftman issues for static judging and flat out be cool. I have to say the racers look pretty mean with the gear sucked up and making the show pass, the crowds love it.

FireBee -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/31/2004 3:21:27 PM)

Luke welcome back. Great to see you tackling another favorite the F2G.

I have TF red box corsair that I'm going to bash into the F2G model later this summer. I've chosen Cook Cleland's white #94.
Cheers

Norm, what size is your F2G?. I've been trying to contact you about the plans your dad/you had.

Mike

rednmc165 -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (3/31/2004 8:03:15 PM)

The wing is 93". I only have parts and pieces of the plans.

Norm

rednmc165 -> RE: F2G Corsair Build Sneak Peak!!! (4/6/2004 10:55:43 PM)

Here are a few older pictures. Once I get my scanner working I'll drop in some more. The tail is rigged and covered, fuse is planked as far as I can go as I await the gear. The wings panels are removable and the cowling is in the process of receiving the scoop.

Well, there doth goeth the neighba-hood!

Welcome back, wild-man Baccha-Hoovius-Dyno-Myteus-Corsairus-in-Exxxtremis!

Your 1/8th scale F4U-1D build absolutely rocked my world, and then you and it vanished into the primal Evergladian Ooze or some other NetherWhirrled place. Don't even THINK about pullin' that stunt again. Ya hear?

Sure missed your beautiful madness here, and hey it's great to see this outa-the-bleu return of none other than Dionysus-Bacchus to our daily fixxx !!!
