well just a couple days ago my savage was running alright. i was taking it off road with my 15 teeth clutch bell and now i put on the 18 teeth clutch bell and my friend tuned the LSN and now i cant get it right again. the book says the HSN should b 2.5-3 turns out, so i set mine at 3.5 just to be a lil safe and the LSN at 3 turns out (that factory setting) but when i turn my LSN its like 5-6 turns before it closes. i think my friend might have over tighten it but i dont know because i dotn feel anty reistance till it closes. so i turned it out to 4 turns and i dont know jsut seems like i screwed the adjustments over on the engine.

for factory setting on the LSN, how far should it be in(aka how much of the black housing around it shoudl i see between the end of the black housing and the top of the screw) if anyone understand what i just said that will be great lol. if anyone could show me a picture of their LSN just so i coudl get a idea on where it should be.

another thing, after i put my 18 tooth clutch bell on it seemed like the gears were rubbinga lot more than my 15 tooth clotch bell. shoudl this be normal since there isnt that much room to move the engine since the two clutch bells are different sizes?

i loe the savage but today im mad cuz i barely got to have any fun. all i have been doing is trying to tune it back and i really hope i didnt hurt the engine.

Hi thier, In relation to your question, I have mine set about 1/32 inside the black part that your talkin about. If that helps you. Your high needle should start & run good at about 3 turns out and your low needle should start & run good at 2 1/2 turns out with 20% fuel With about 16% oil.

Are you getting fuel through the line? If not turn your low end needle out until you do and then work from there. 1/8 th turns a a time.

your idle screw needs adjusting. turn it up more and that problem should be gone.

You also need to check the lubrication on your clutch drum bearing. If its dry in will shut the engine down when you hit the brake.

You need to hold the carb closed with your finger whilst you adjust this needle, otherwise it pushes it open. Close it by hand and tighten it down VERY gently until it has a slight resistance (this is tricky but you will get the hang of it) that is where the "3 turns" starts from.
