I'm looking for a new field charger, I use mostly nicads and some Nmh batteries,
the two chargers I have been looking at are
the Sirius charge pro http://www.siriuselectronics.com/pro_ser.htm
and the hobbico Quick field charger MK2 http://www.hobbico.com/chargers/hcap0290.html
Ideally I would like two outputs, compact design, simple operation, and easy on my batteries.
any experiences with these charges or other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Charles

I have the older Hitec CG-335 which is great for NiCds. The newer CG-340 handles, I believe, NiMH also. These are high quality chargers with excellent peak detection.

Sirius is the way to go. It is goof proof. I have the pro series with update (just done less then month ago) i have never had problem with it. Another plus to the Sirius is the warranty and the customer service they provide. Call the and ask the question you posted.

I have the Hobbico MKII. It's much more flexible than the Sirus charger. It beeps alerting you when the charge is done. It charges 4.8 or 6 volt receiver packs. Actually it charges 1 to 8 cells NiCad or NiMh or 1 to 3 cells Lithium.

I really like mine.

I dont think you can go wrong with either, The Sirius is goof proof and reliable, ie. plug and play. The Mk II is more versatile but requires more input from user.

Simple choice.... Sirius. No buttons to push. Just plug and charge. Flawless design.

IMHO, this is like comparing a Chevy/Ford to a Cadillac/Lincoln. Go with the Sirius and you won't regret it.

Unless you've only got the money for the Chevy. They will both get you where you are going. I've had zero problems with the Hobbico MKII.

The Hobbico or Sirius will not discharge any radio with the diode in place.

I have the Hobbico, modified my radios for discharging. I recently have switched to the Sirirus. The Hobbico started giving false readings while recycling.
