Status: offline 		I'm a bit late but want to thank Ralph for adding the detailed info on "tex" covering weights. I covered my Aeromaster with Solartex last year and thought it got a bit heavier. Now I know it got 1/2 pound heavier! Oh well. I covered it in white and plan to paint it in red and black trim. Since 60% of the surface will be unpainted Solartex I will be using Minwax "fast-drying" Polyurethane clear satin available in a spray can. It's easy to apply, fuel-proof and doesn't yellow like the spar urethane. It takes at least 24 hours to dry despite the description.

Status: offline 		At my house there is no snow to be found!! (plenty of mud though) Ive had the itch pretty bad, our field is grass and pretty rough right now.

Status: offline 		We still have plenty of snow but there doesn't seem to be much frost in the ground under it because the snow came early and often. No runoff means the field may dry up quickly. Roads are different. They froze up pretty well. The worst heaves in years, but getting better. (Okay.. off topic.. my bad!)

Status: offline 		No bad on you!! The roads here are the worse we have ever seen also!!

I did get up to the field Sunday and test flew a Lanier Shrike I just finished. It was a fun and quick build, the landings were soft but messy!

Status: offline 		I hear you guys about weather. I was only out flying three hours yesterday and got a terrible sunburn and I had the SPF45 on! It was already 90 degrees. I awoke last night at 3 am because my eyes were burning - they got sunburned too. By June it'll be over 100!

As you probably guessed, we don't see temps like that, maybe 90 on the hottest day in August.

Status: offline 		Enough already about the weather! Let's get talking about Aeromasters again! (OK, maybe I'm just touchy because we got another two inches of snow today.)

Having lost my vintage '73 Aeromaster a year ago to an equipment malfunction, I've been longing for a new one ever since. I finally got my wish this week when I bought a Giant Aeromaster ARF. I know it's not really vintage, but it's at least discontinued, so maybe that counts for something. The engine will be semi-vintage, a US 41. From what I hear, they are just as much fun to fly as the original smaller version. I'm having a blast putting it together (notice I didn't say building).

If you will permit, I'll post a photo when it is done and give a flight report.

Hi CrateCruncher... FYI, I am "resisting the urge" as admonished in the response disclaimer. But I am definitely jealous!! (But not for 100 degrees. That would take a while to get used to.)

Probaably in about 2 weeks. I'm hoping to get some good time in on it this weekend. I'll be out of town next weekend and won't get to work on it. I've spent the first 4 hours taking wrinkles out of the covering, which was apparently a major problem on the GA ARF. The wrinkles are pretty bad, but once they come out it is a really nice covering job. Looking forward to hearing about yours in the air!

I've been looking for an H-Ray Kit and someone directed me to: Wing Mfg, Early RC Models (269)665-9630 As most of you probably know, Lou Andrews made the H-Ray and the Aeromaster (among several others). These folks still make the H-Ray kits and when I spoke with them today they mentioned that they are looking into putting Aeromaster kits back into production. Maybe with a little encouragement it would be sooner rather than later.... I thought this might be welcome news to the more hardcore element of Aeromaster enthusiasts among us.

I have a Sullivan Round 12oz in mine. As I recall, there was really nothing to prevent you from extending the length of the fuel tank. (I'm just getting back into this after a 28 year absence so I'm assuming they're still available.)
