Status: offline 		Nice airplanes pd1, after seeing these I want to get my restoration in progress. Patience Patience Patience... The red and white Aeromaster paint scheme is what I have planned, with black and yellow respectively. I have the layout with starburst on the vert fin as well in lieu of the checkerboard.

Status: offline 		APIA, The yellow and black should look real nice. The checkers on mine were cut monocote, one piece at a time. I would recomend anything else.

Status: offline 		I thought about checkerboard on the bottom of the lower wing and then I thought again about the masking and paint bleed thru. I think that I have a real challenge getting the starburst tape lines perfect. I have been researching how to get perfect tape lines and I have a few test pieces that I have experimented with and have had good results. I initially thought of recovering with plastic film, then I realized that a classic as such should be covered with good ole dope and rag... Trying to keep this airplane as nostalgic as possible.

I can tell that's an Aeromaster, but it's also very cool. What diameter is the cowl? As luck would have it, I donated a bunch of Tupperware last weekend but saved out a couple of bowls that looked like they'd hide a Supertigre S.75. Heh, heh.

OK, you talked me into it, 48" span and both swept. This will teach you to drink beer at my house when you have Aeromaster plans in your possession!!!

Tom,

Once you get the base coat painted, mask off your trim. Then, spray the area you are going to trim in the same color as the base. One coat is usually enough, then follow that up with your trim color. Perfect lines every time. Be sure and get some good masking tape, not the manilla colored stuff, get the blue or green 'low tack' tape. It won't pull the base coat off, and won't leave any residue behind. Once you get all your trim painted, spray a couple of coats of well thinned clear over everything.. works great!

I used to brush a coat of clear dope over the tape edge so the clear would bleed, not the new color.
Now I use green fineline tape, it makes perfect edges.
Check your local area for an automotive paint supply house.
If you can't get it locally send me a note I'll get you some.

Status: offline 		That's the Aeromaster I remember as an 11 year old boy at the NATS in 1965. I remember it so well, watching Ernie fly it inverted. He put on quite a show for the day considering the equipment quality of the day. My dad an I were in awe! We later built and flew one for many years. Thanks for sharing the magazine photo.

I also saw Ernie fly it at Willow Grove. My dad and I spent every day up there and I still recall every moment. We spent time at the ukie circles watching stunt, combat and speed, F/F scale and power and the RC events. I didn't want to see it end. Remember the closing airshow with Dick Schram "The Flying Professor", Bill Fornof flying his Bearcat and the Blues flying the Grumman F-11F? Those were real jets.

That is the procedure that I used and it works great, I found the info here on RCU somewhere.
