What glow plug should i be using with an ofna picco.26 and blue thunder 20% fuel?


It will be for bashing

With my picco it depends on the outside temps for me under 40 degrees f i use a hot plug O.S. a3 or Mc59 ,40-70 degrees f i use a medium plug O.S. 8 or Mc8 and any hotter i use a cold plug O.S.r5,O.S. a5 or Mc9.It may take some experimenting to get it right and this is what i find to work for me ,hopefully it helps you.

Is that degrees Farenhite or degrees Celsius#


Why do you need different plugs, why are there different temperatures.

Thats Farenhite,the different heat ranges from what i know either advance or retard timing of the engine to keep it running efficiently and temps from skyrocketing out of control,i am probably not explaining it as good as someone else could so hopefully it helps.Like i said it will take some trial and error to get things sorted out once temps outside start changing.My engine is real finiky with outside temps where as my bashing buddies .26s arent as effected as mine,every engine is different tho.

Will i damage the engine if i run the wrong plug?

I have been using os#8 plugs and have tuned it into that. However there is no bashin untill the header tank arives

If your engine temps are good and it runs good then leave it ,i know i have to change plugs if my truck runs crappy and /or engine temps are real high, i would buy a cold plug .a medium plug and a hot plug just to have with me just in case. When its spring or fall the temps outside fluctuate too much for my finiky engine thats why i have a collection of plugs with me.But if you arent having any problems then stick with what works.Why cant you bash without a header tank?I dont think you can damage anything as long as you have smoke ,and temps dont go over 300degrees farenhite with an incorrect heat range plug.

I have been having so much trouble with self lean caused by the savage 21 tank.

I have ordered a savage 25 primerless tank and a 2oz header tank.

It was crazy, the thing went out of tune faster than i couldd tune it. [:'(]

At first when i got my engine it ran horrible so i took it apart sealed it,relubed the o-rings on the needles and cleaned out the carb with wd-40 and that alleviated alot of tuning problems.If you know how then i would recommend doing so.I have also found that a cracked fuel tank can cause you to go insane trying to tune it .I think tho if you are having issues of leaning out,then you probably have an air-leak somewhere-thats why i recommend the engine sealing and checking the o-rings.

I'd say you have an air leak somewhere also. I run a Wasp .26 with a .21 style tank (I smashed the .25 tank and am waiting for the LHS to get some in.), and no real tunning problems yet.

I have a suspision that the primer on the S21 tank was leaking air.

How do i lube the o rings etc? and what with?

I used regular automotive moly grease for the o-rings which works excellent(i had it lying around the garage)and to seal the engine i used Permatex sensor friendly gasket maker(gold color) available at a auto parts store. 1=Remove the backplate put a little coat of gasket maker on the engine block where they meet,reinstall the backplate. 2=remove the carb from the block,lube the o-ring and smear a LIGHT coat of gasket maker on the part of the carb that slides into the block.REMEMBER to loctite all screws when putting it back together Now#3 i have seen people saying is bad ,BUT i have done it without any problems @ all ,and that is to remove the cooling head and apply some between the head and block=Engine sealed.It probably sounds more complicated than it is ,take your time and you should be o.k.And to lube the o-rings count how many turns it takes to screw out the High speed and low speed needles make sure they arent torn ,if they are good just cover them in grease lightly and reinstall them.
