For the bang you get for the buck you spend, I think the G-26 is the best all around engine in it's weight/power class. I know mine is a dream and I can't complain about it. Performance in my Extra 300 actually improved when I took the G-38 out and put the G-26 in it. Not only did I lose almost 2 pounds, I got to remove 9 ozs of lead from the tail.

All I can say is this engine and plane combo is awesome. My RCIGN G26 just gets better each time I fly it. It isn't broken in yet but it is currently turning an APC 17x8 @ 8600 rpms with a Slimline Pitts muffler which is somewhat restrictive. This engine does not miss a beat and I can easily start it by hand. I will not hesitate to order another RCIGN G26 for future planes of this size. I have a Cermark SU31 with a stock G26 on it and it runs well but it is just not as reliable and weighs a lot more. Here is a pic of the install on the Cermark Pitts.

Thanks, Alan, the reason for the picture is....
"Harry Landing" here on RCU ordered a G26 and wanted to see how the engine fit inside the cowl...
Now you got him really excited, he has the plane and no G26 yet

We are about to see how the 60cc Poulan runs on a P-40 which I will send you pictures of when it is finished. A flying buddy in the area built a Jack Devine P-40 and she is just about done. Should be a very nice plane. I now have 5 of your engines... G26, G38, two G62's and a Poulan 60. One G62 will go in a Laird Turner racer which will also be done soon. Will post more pictures as they come out of the hanger

Here is somewhat of a shot of the Poulan 60cc in the JDM P-40 a friend is building. As you can see, the engine fits nicely. The carb does require a cutout on the right side of the cowl with the engine mounted inverted. More later...

Ralph,

How much does your G26 conversion weight with ignition and do you have any available?

I have a question or two about the G-26 conversion. What is the weight of the engine with accessories like ignition? The reason I'm asking is because I actually modified my Spacewalker II to take a Brison 2.4 gasser. I was replacing a Saito 1.50 or a 1.80, I can't remember which right now (I'm thinking 1.50). It had good performance with the Saito, but nothing more. It would go from flat full speed to about 250 or 300 feet of vertical before sliding back. Quite scale, actually, but I'm looking for a bit more. Just not sure I want as much more as the Brison 2.4 is going to give. I haven't cut the new cowl yet, so I thought I'd do a poll or two to get some thoughts on the G-26 conversion as a possible alternative. The Spacewalker II is fabric and paint, and with the Saito in it I believe it weighed about 12.5 pounds, perhaps 13. Still light enough that I had to hold her onto the deck during landings until she slowed down.

I don't know what the weight of the G-26 conversion is compared to the Saito, and I don't know how much more power it has, I'm assuming it's got more. The power of the Brison 2.4 is somewhat more than a G-38, but that's a good power reference point. I do know the weight difference between the Saito and the the Brison 2.4 was over a pound, but MUCH less than it would have been to place a G-38 in there. Lastly, what's the average price on one of the above-mentioned G-26 conversion these days?

There's no way I'm going back to the Saito, but I'm thinking that the Brison 2.4 may simply be too much and will take away some of the fun of flying it. I can fly it without a problem, but I have a certain power range I prefer. I call it plenty but not too much!

Jimbo
