Ray: There is a guy in Everett that has a Ziroli Corsair with the Mick Reeves reduction Torquemaster on a G-62. He used the Moki adjustable three blade hub and a 24" three blade prop and could spin it at 5500 RPM. That puts the G-62 way up in RPM but he felt the combination was solid. The last time I spoke with him he was going to build a similar reduction drive and bolt it to a Zenoah GT-80. He felt a 28" prop was possible with that combination. I'll have to see if I can find him again. We had some great discussions on scale props and reduction units. If we could just come up with some efficient props we would make a giant step forward.

No 4 blade bigger than a 15.5 x 12 from DA, I would think that with all the giant motors they sell they would have something.

Jack, if you are in touch with the guy building the reduction drive let me know how it works out, maybe there will be a way to make it work with the 5.9 and maybe even, dare I say, a 26inch four blade (as the mouth waters) I would lose it for sure, if I had a 26 inch 4 blade prop on my Bearcat, and was able to fly with it and have fun.

Wonder what size motor it would take to spin say a 26 x 12 at about 6k??? Hey you ultra giant scale guys might know the answer to that one. Maybe I could shoe horn whatever size motor it would take into the plane..................
ever the dreamer!

Ray

Hey guys I fly a Ziroli with a 3w 70i with a 24/10 bolly prop the plane weighs 35 lbs. and will pull a good size loop with plenty of power to spare,on the ground the 2 blade prop pulls on a digital fish scale 25 lbs and like I said the plane flies with authority the 4 blade carbon fiber prop at 20/12 pitch pulls the same as the 2 blade haven't flown the 4 blade yet but plan on it this weekend.pulls the same rpm's too!

Supra Fly,
can you build a 22in - 24in X 8 - 12 pitch narrow four blade set up?
If so how much, and what would you use to tie the blades together?

Checking all options,

Ray

I start with two choice zingers and key them together and glue them with a very slow setting epoxy then put 4 dowels and 2 3/32 ply disk on them.
It takes about 2.5 hours just to get to glue part ,then they are cleaned up.
All of this is done with great care and precision on a vertical milling machine and jigs to keep alignment.
You just shape the tips ,balance paint and fly.

http://www.hodgeshobbies.com/index.htm

This is who I started making the props for.
Mac hodges can give you info on diameter and pitch for engine sizes.
As far as price, about $35.00 plus props for one 4 blade prop.
I might be able to get the props at a good price.
Zinger has a small selection of blade style

Hello all. I was reading this forum and thought that I would reply with some first hand info. Attached in my gallery is a picture of my Yellow P-47 with a Taurus 52 turning the Zinger 4-blade 22-6 during initial engine breakin and evaluation. I can say that on the ground, the combination pulls very hard. There is more than enough power for this model. (and no cowling cutouts). It also has custom scale exhaust. The prop "hub" has been scalloped by a friend with a CNC and I have since added the scale Hamilton hub. Just don't have any pics yet. I am very pleased with the scale looks and power of this setup. Yes, the prop is expensive, but at only $9 per spare blade, replacements may be cheaper than replacing an entire 2-blade (depending how many blades are damaged by a runway mishap). This aircraft will be finished in aluminum and should go in the air by this Fall.

What RPM does your engine turn the prop? Pitch speed for a 6" prop at 6500 rpm is only about 37 mph.

I don't have a big enough plane for the use of these, yet I get bored and do some looking on the net and see what people are doing.
