I was told not to go over 220F with the motor. Seems to make way more power in the 260-270F area, and still is still spitting fuel and blue smoke coming out of it when goosing it. You guys think it's safe to run like this, or should I run it at the 220F area, and loose a lot of performance? For the most part, I've run it at the cooler temp, but I wonder if I'm being a little too cautious with it. Not having a lot of experience with nitro, I"m wondering what you guys think.

Where did you hear the 220 number?

Mine runs great at 250-260. It's a screamer.

The guy I bought it from said 220. I take it I can run it hotter, from what you guys have said. Mine's a screamer as well, when it's in the 260 range.

260 range is absolutely fine man. Temps as a tuning tool are about as misleading as you can get. You are doing right by checking fuel and smoke, couple that with the way the motor sounds and you have all you need to tune. There is no set number that will damage a motor. Run it where it wants to run and call it a day. The only time temps come into play is break in.
