So, I assume that you have a Twist and have it built and flown.
I'm just finishing mine up but am having a real problem getting it balanced. It needed 8.2 oz ahead of the firewall to get CG at 4". I have 5 in and need 3+ more and don't know what to do.
Did you have this problem?
Using 46 FX.

I have thunder Tiger Pro . 46 on the front, I had to added 8 to 9 OZ weight and battery to the front to get the CG little past 4" behind the leading edge. I'm going to try to fly her tomorrow.

If you have to add the weight you my as well use NiMH battery's they are heavy and last 2-3 time's as long as regular battery's...the ones I use are 4.8v@2000mAh and weigh a porky 135 grams or 4.8oz's run 2 of them and you can charge then on Sunday and fly all week....these are what I'm installing in mine.....but I don't need as much weight because I'm running a YS63S.....you can see them @ tower hobby's ...part # HCAM6320........JW

Guys, try getting your CG back to around 4 1/2" or 4 3/4" and also try a DU-BRO or Great planes Heavy hub spinner. When you can move your weight all the way out to the end of the crank you will not need near as much on the fire wall or cheeks. After I had installed the engine with the recommended distance from fire wall the thrust washer I noticed I could have came out another 1/2" on the mounts that would have kept me from needing as much stick on weights(2oz). Also, when adding weight, don't do like me and stick the lead in the way of your low speed screw(os46ax). Only problem I'm having is when I roll with high rates, its so quick my engine stalls. Checked my tank and lines, all ok. Its almost like I'm slinging the fuel out of the engine when I roll it hard. With good weather Wed. I'll fly and tune it better to see if I can correct this problem.

WOW,....... I put a pro 46 on mine and only had to add 2 oz. to get the CG in the middle of the range.

I have standard servos all around. JR 4735, I moved the engine 1/2 inch forward and used a 700 nicad. CG came out right at 5 inches back were I wanted it. No extra weight added.

Actually I am looking to get this plane. I have a ucd 60 that won't harrier except at high alpha. I would like a plane that will knife edge well w/o a lot of coupling and harrier/harrier land w/o a lot of wing rock. Harrier at like at a 45 degree attitude going horizontal w/o a ton of wing rock. Finally found a buyer for my old trainer and am thinking of getting this with a saito 72. I usually go on the high side of the engine and then move the battery around to get the cg where I want it.

Have you tried to move the tank on the cg and the batter in the fuse? Is that possible?

Also.. I would not put a heavy spinner on. That will make it harder for your engine to speed up the prop and slow it down.

Does anybody know if there is a purpose for...well, I don't know what you call it. Possibly "counterbalanced" elevator and rudder. It's where the sides of the surface span the elevator and stabilizer. The Twist has them, but something like a su-do-khoi doesn't .

I'm still trying to figure out why horizon says you can do high speed runs with this plane, it just doesn't seem plausable without blowing somthing off it eventually.

I flew mine yesterday again. Super easy to hover. My Magnum XLS .52 is running great now. Pulls like hell. It flatspins flatter than any other plane I have ever seen.

With my O.S. 70 4-stroke I can do full throttle runs with the 13-8 prop no problem. It can move along pretty fast. I don't know about a dive at full throttle though. If you had a high revving 2-stroke it might be too fast, I don't know.

I believe it was 4 1/2". I haven't tried to flat spin it so I don't know if it will or not.

Mine is at 5 to 5.25. I am not using spoilers or flaperons. High rates. I wont hold it if you use too much right airleron. 1/4 throttle than start adding more throttle once it is in the spin.

The one I am testing wouldn't flat spin until I increased the elevator throw to 45 degrees or greater. 30 degrees wouldn't get me anything. At 45, it flat spins upright and inverted, does a nice blender and a great waterfall or forward flip. Lots of wing rock in a harrier or elevator.

My balance is somewhere toward the rear of the range as I pick it up with a thumb and finger. Power is an OS AX with a heavy hub. I'll try it without the hub next weekend.
