Ants -> 2x 480s, batterys? (4/11/2004 7:40 PM)

I ve got a 42" semi scale model twin motors. 2 x 480's direct drive, props APC 5.5 x 4.5. I am trying to decide the most suitable battery pack. Weight is critical (only 250 sq/ins wing area)8x Cp1300s seem ok, but short duration. 8x Cp1700 a bit heavy(almost 1lb) could I use8x 1800 Kan cells? Their weight looks good and duration better? Li-polys would be better I know but charging issues and new exuipment put me off.

Any suggestions folks? Many thanks.

The 4/5A NiMH cell is the ideal solution in this case. You can get the capacity of a CP1700 with the weight of a CP1300.

Do you have any idea how many Amps the 480 motors are drawing? I usually use 15 Amps as a general rule of thumb, which means 30 for the pair. This might be a little much for the KAN1800s, but definitely not too much for the Sanyo HR4/5FAUP 1950mAh cells.

30 amps sounds apout right, I ve not yet measured it. I noticed the Faup cells sound good. Thanks I ll give them a try.
