I made sure I had about 12mm 1/2" between the headers and canisters. You could see the carbon buildup on the teflon joiner after the crash that the gap was constant.
Going to use the KS canister mounts this time they look to be a good thing nothing should move.

If you "connect " your engine/motor to the cannisters with an eletrical wire, then there should be no problems.
I haven“t given that a thought on my model (Extra) -not with a 12 mm spacing anyway! - I have a few millimeters!
But now I probably will give it a thought!

KS clamps are nice, better design than Greve i think. The mounts probably benefit from soft mounting, and that would probably also prevent the movement ('creep').

Cut a soft spacer of the same material (but smaller diameter) the sleeves are made from to fit between the pipes. You could use an automotive heat resistant hose if that's all you could find.

I'm having trouble determining where the control horns should line up with the aileron hinge axis? This is a bit confusing because the ailerons are hinged to the top surface of the wing. So is that the axis or is it some other reference? The illustrations in the manual make it seem like there is a reference on the bottom of the wing, but on mine there is a gap between the aileron and the wing.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Mike

By the time you get the slots for the aileron horns cleaned out and cut the horns to the correct length you'll be close. In any case, try to get the holes for the clevises to roughly align vertically with the hinge line on the top of the wing. If you're going to use dual aileron servos do everything you can to make sure all the horns line up at the same relative point.

You will have to cut the horns to obtain the correct lengths and alignment. Careful here because it's quite easy to cut the wrong angle at the bottom of the horns. I found using a Dremel cut off wheel is about the best way to cut the phenolics. Pay close attention to the hole heights as noted in the instructions, remembering that the outside horns have a different apparent height that compensates for the thinner aileron section. Having them wrong in height or hinge point alignment will bugger up the aileron control set ups.
