I have a question concerning prop selection for my Jett 90 in my Great Planes phantom. The plane is flying pretty good on a 12X6 prop turning right at 13,900 with 15% fuel. What would be a good prop on this engine to get a little more speed out of this plane (11X8 maybe)? This plane is big and bulky so I am not expecting too much in the speed department, but any increase would help it overall. Any information would be ver helpful.

Thanks

How much runway does it take to get off now and how much extra do you have? The general rule of thumb is down 1 in daimeter up 1 in pitch, however a 12x6 already seems small- similar load to an 11x7 or 10x8/9..

Jett-90 owners?

I'm not thrilled with this post. I have a Jett .90 that I am currently installing on a Hangar 9 Corsair.

I was hoping I could start with a 13x6 and go to a 12x8 or 11X9 at some point. If you are only turning 13,900 with a 12x6 I am very concerned.

That seems low...???

Any other Jett .90 owners out there?

Is that the Torque, or Speed version?

I have the Jett .50 and .90 . Airgar is relating to the F-4 for speed. Your Corsair is still going to move right along with a 12/8 or 13/8. You know I have a couple warbirds that are engine overpowered. I just pick out a prop and fly it. I would stick a 13/ 8 on it, come by for a low pass and then go vertical. If it hold well, keep it. If not, drop down a tad

You should be turning an APC 12x6 prop WELL over 14,000 with the 90L.

You did not mention the brand and type of prop you are using. Can you provide that for me ?

The APC 11x8 is my prop of choice for the application. The 90L turns that over 15,000 in a similar F4 application. An 11x9 lugs down to about 14,500.

If you have the standard 90L jett-stream muffler, you will want to prop the engine turn over 14K with any prop. The muffler RPM range is from about 13K up to about 17K.

Tell me a bit more about the installation and prop
