Status: offline 		A year or so back I remember seeing a thread on another RC forum about making your own fuel. They said its alot cheaper and you just gotta have the right stuff. My friend was indecisive about getting an RC car or not, but I took him out to watch me and my friend drive and now he wants a buggy really bad . So his dad said he knows how to make it if his son gets into RC, which I know he will (plus he has the money). But I was just wondering what the chemicals involved are and where to get them. Also, how much does it cost?

Status: offline 		i think you want to know how to make glow fuel...not nitromethane. Glow fuel consists of a lubricant (probably castor oil if youre making at home), methanol, and nitrmethane. Nitromethane is difficult stuff to get hold of - its explosive - but check out the link above - its quite good...i made fuel myself once (a long time ago) and the mix was 20%castor oil 20% nitrmethane and 60%methanol, and it worked alright, thogh i only made a quarter gallon of the stuff before jus buying it...on the other hand if you want to know how to make nitromethane i dont recommend it coz it is quite likely that it will expldoe and take you alonf with it...you need to react methane gas with nitric acid, the resulting reaction/explosion will give nitromethane, which if you were lucky and managed to control the reaction temperature wont explode in you face

okay..... i dont know who you are, but from what i understand is that you have an 18ft boat that runs on a LOT of methanol and COORS beer.
