Anyone ever heard of a Super Stunts 40 ARF? I picked one up last night and I just want to know what I might be getting my self into.

Thanks,
Zig

I have the red one from World Models. Use the search feature, there is another thread with info on this airplane. Mine has a Saito 91. I removed some covering from the bottom and added a little wood around the front and rear of the fuse. Also installed lite tailbrace. Moved the engine servo back one bay. Reshaped the rudder. Doubled the wing saddle. lite airframe. Straight. I prefer taildraggers but like the pull-pull rudder. Good value for less than $100.

I bought a yellow one when they were on sale for $89 - best darn bargain there is at this price range, even at $99. It is as big as most .60 Stiks but weighs like a .40 at 5 to 5-1/2lbs.

1. I converted mine to have quad flaps, awesome!!
2. Put the rudder servo right in front of the vertical stab and drive the rudder with a solid 2-56 rod.
3. Added tri-stock to vertical stab mount - known weak point of this ARF.
4. Stole the landing gears from my Super Stunt 60 and, since I fly off grass the prop still hits the grass and quits if I land a little hard.
5. Added cross braces to the fuse between the wing and the stabs, after the lite-ply cracked in two places when I crash-landed one time.
6. Added shear webs two additional bays, while I added the additional servos for the quad flaps.
7. Cut a hatch at bottom of fuel tank compartment to make stuffing foam around tank easier.
8. Glassed both sides of firewall and inside of cowl cheeks.

As light weigh as this plane is, it is one tought bird. I've banged it up 9 different ways, and except for #5 mentioned above, it has nary a scratch on it. A little reinforcement at strategic places is a good idea, but try keeping the plane lite as possible. I have an Irvine .53 on mine and for me it's plenty. Although this thing can easily handle a .60-.75 2stroke or .90 4stroke, if 3D is your cup of tea.

This is my fav fun flyer right now - that is, until I get the .60 version up and flying.
