Fist question. Is there anywhere to buy a larger size fuel tank for the rc10gt?

2nd, On average, how long do these stock rc10gt engines last with proper care and maintenance?

Thanks

the engine life realy depends opn what type of racer you are. if you run hard for long your engine wont last as long as your typical easy going racer, as for the latger fuel tank go to neweramodels.com and they have a 125 cc fuel tank for the gt

Thanks, I orderd that fuel tank. As for the engine....I dont race at all, just bashing maybe 3 times a week only 1-2 hours each time. I know it varies...but can it last 1 year, 2 years? On 'average' what is the life expectancy? thanks for the info

well i didnt mean race at the track but i just meant playing with your truck sorry for not verifying that, but my engines only last a few months before i rebuild because i drag race my GT's and wen i practice and just bash i bash hard. my engine hardly every see's quarter throttle its always 3/4 or full that is why i rebuild so much but in your case your engines should last 8 to 10 months if properly taken care of. use after run oil and when you store them make sure you plug the carb. have fun!!!

if its an RTR engine, dont rebuild. it costs more than the whole engine. i suggest buyin an os becasue someone on ebay or something rebuilds for like 20 bucks

Ahh ok thanks. Is there an os engine that will bolt straight into my existing motor mount? And what is the biggest size engine I can fit in it? Thanks!

that is a great choice but if you can get a slide carb it would be better... your engine will last amny years if you dont play wityh it all the time like i do and like you say you do but invest in an OS engine and you will recieve more power and it is only 30 to 40 bucks to rebuild them... to re byuild them just replace piston piston sleeve and connecting rod... im not sure if you have to replace the con rod but i do

oh yeah for the bolt on part you wll need to cut the shaft that is all...make sure you get the treaded shaft so you can cut it adn you will need to get a clutch nut for the threaded shaft...5 bucks...

Well on the OS website it says they have a short shaft version for my truck:

The .15 CV-R is available in these four carb/shaft configurations:

Standard Shaft with 10E Rotary Carb
Standard Shaft with 10A Slide Valve Carb
Pilot Shaft (P) with 10A Slide Valve Carb
Short Shaft (S) with 10E Rotary Carb

The last one is made to fit the rc10gt they say, but it is only available in a rotary carb. So your saying I can buy the standard shaft with a slide carb then just cut down the shaft length?

that is correct... you will need somthin called a cut off nut i am not sure if you have it but you put the flywheel on and then the cut off nut and it is the correct length that you nees...all you have to do is take a dremel or a hack saw and cut it flush with the nut..easy as 1 2 3...if you need any further help just ask

only thing is for racing that O.S. wont be allowed. also on break in i put a few drops of motor oil in (very light weight) and make sure i lube the engine in and between cool downs i put a good bit of after run oil in. after i did this my engine ad a tighter seal and seemed to last longer. just like our bodies: if we dont have blood we dont live! same with our engines!

Oh, also....is there actually a performance difference in using a slide carb vs. a rotary carb? Why do you recommend the slide carb instead? Im just curious why 1 is better than the other thanks
