hello there
i will be getting a wireless camera to mount to a plane soon
i have several choices available to me, i was looking into the 200mw system at blackwidowav, thats basically a near perfect one , but thats $430, and i am kinda on a budget, i need a nice light one, to fit onto a wingo or similar plane, and to fit on a kyosho concept 30

ebay item number 3187614031 is a 1000 mw transmitter and reciever that claims to have good picture and sound from over a km however, it looks too heavy to fit on any of my planes except for the discovery, and it still doesnt have a camera.

ebay item number 3186860536 claims that their 200 mw system can go 1400 metres away, that includes a camera, but from looking at the rx it looks it only supports video, where audio would be a nice feature.

ebay item number 3090536004 is a 200 mw system that supports video and audio, the picture from the camera looks good, but im still trying to ask the guy the effective range of the camera.

those are the ones in the australian ebay, so shipping for them wont cost me an arm and a leg
thes are from american ebay

ebay item number 3090333950 is and 800 mw system that looks at least half decent, although it doesnt have audio

none of the 800mw systems seem to have audio, but if they are of decent quality then it doesnt really matter.

so theose are all the available systems i can find, so which one should i choose?

If you can solder a few wires, the "Bare Components" 5v 200mw system from BlackwidowAV.com would cost you $150 US for the tx and rx, $99 US for the CX-161 camera, making a total of $249 US plus shipping. Dont know if the prices you quoted are US or Aus.
If ya cant go that route, there are the "800mw" 9volt systems on Ebay using CMOS cameras that work pretty well and can be had CHEAP. Those are illegal to use here in the US. I dont know if that is true in Australia.
I have used pretty much every type of system available out there and the BlackwidowAV one I have works the best.
My Wingocam video uses that system.

Edited:
I just realized I have probably told you all this before now that I see you changed your name.

well the blackwidowav ready to fly unit is probably ... unbeatable and im guessing thats the one you used in your wingo, so the range seems pretty decent, no fuzzyness, which i hate, and $330USD plus $19USD for shipping goes into $472AUD
OUCH
thats how much my last helicopter cost me

$268USD goes into $362AUD

now i know that there is no subtitute for quality, but i wanna try and resist getting too much stuff from the us, because i dont know what frequencys r legal there but not here. we use 35/36 for planes, not 72/75 so i dont know what frequencys for video and sound are illegal/legal, however , most of the ones of the auzzie ebay claim to be legal in aus, and if the're not, then i can just sew em
i think ill get the panasonic 161 ccd camera from blackwidow av and use a tx/rx set found here in ause, like, that 1000mw one, however, again im not sure that a wingo will be able to take the weight, how muchs does your onboard camera system weigh?

ok hows about 3091813485

with 3084034214

hmm that'd be a b1tch to connect, theres some A/V cords with the plug for the camera, and theres a plug for the camera on the tx as well, whats the deal with that??

edit: hmm those two r from the us as well>>argh!

2nd edit: i think the auzzie legal frequency is 1.2ghz and 2.4ghz

3rd edit: ok i just used my brain and i remembered theat we use 35 and 36 mhz because here the ambluance and police use 72 and 75, so i used my brain and figured, what is useing 1.2 and 2.4 (the most common available frequencys) that uses vidio and audio?

ugh, 4th edit: the tv

Naw, Michael, the 200mw system I use is the Bare Components one.
Got to find a pic of the setup but I soldered the camera leads and tx leads together and also to a standard servo plug. When I plug in the battery, both the cam and tx become live at the same time. I can switch cameras by just unplugging the pigtail from the back of the cam and plugging it into the new cam. I am pretty sure I used all the ground leads in the camera plug, just soldered them to the common neg of the plug. To power the video system I am using one of the LiPo sport packs from FMA direct which comes complete with a 5v reg setup. Not sure if it is LDO or not. The LiPo pack is a 2C 1020mAh pack which is beyond overkill for the video system. I would have done fine with a 700mAh pack.
I need to find the description of how to set up for switching between cameras while airborne. Anyone remember where that was?

The switch I know of was a RC-CAM project, but he ran out of the circuit boards around last September. And I found out about them in December.
Bill has one, but he’s been home every time I’ve driven by.

I’m going to try switching cameras using a Radio Shack switch bumped by a servo arm. Two switches if you want to power off the camera not in use.

Catalog #: 275-016

i gotta find the prices of lithium polymer batteries...

ok i can get a 7.4v 1500mAh , on 65 grams, for $59, hardly seems worth it for a damn battery, would that power an electric plane a tx and a camera?

Prices found here

I bought some of these,. ebay Item number: 3187115477
Your in a danger zone making Li-Poly packs, so know what you are doing ahead of time or don't attempt it.

I tried a 2s2p on my slow stick and found that the board on the battery is a current limit device and will shut down the pack when 2.5 amps is exceeded. You have to remove the board and solder direct to the tabs for electric plane use, but they work fine as is for powering my video transmitters.

I'm sure you would be and I didn't mean it that way!
Quite a few people read these posts and I hate recommending something that needs to be modified to work without mentioning there is a risk involved.
But packs are working fine and I can’t fault the price!

heheh yeh, anyway i need a new pack for my choppa anyway

Edit: Also , to those of you who care, i found a plane like the wingo, a bit more expensive, but uses the same electronics, its called the aventura 2 so ill probably get that instead of the wingo, because this one is more readily available in aus, also, it can land on water and on thick grass,

So long as it flies slow, flies stable, and can lift the camera system, you will be in like Flint. Are there performance upgrades available such as gearboxes allowing you to use bigger props and so forth? Best thing I did for my Wingo was adding the geared motor setup and 8X6 APC prop along with the 7 cell 1100mAh Nimh pack.

i got a video
of one flying the actual plane has a canopy and a fibreglass fuse, it can loop apparently.
it uses a 480 motor'

anyway... back to the subject in question *cough* the ones at bwav , does the tx/rx use the standard 4 channles or does it have a tuneing knob?
im asking this because ... ebay item 3091145562 is an rx with a built in 3.5"LCD that works on the standard 4 channels. lol it looks just like an i-pod
i mat start off with a cheepo ebay one and then just save up for a bwav quality one.
